How are Guernsey....................

Hey, new here, big Guernsey FC fan, go to as many games as possible, including the odd away game.

In answer to the question in the post, I think the introduction of Guernsey FC is viewed as a positive thing which can be beneficial for all clubs involved.

It seems there is a generally respectful view to us. Unfortunately there are a couple of posters that give us a bad name, and also on the other side, unnecessary slating.

But I have been following this forum since GFC were accepted into the league and most posters seem to have a good rapport with sensible, well reasoned respectful comments. I hope to be the same. I will defend my team, but rationally and show respect for others and try to be unbiased. If I think we played ****, I'll say so.

Look forward to dicussed non-league, and particularly Guernsey, with you all

Thanks Smudge, good to be here

A couple of Guernsey posters on here have made us a target I guess. It's set us up for a fall so when Guernsey do finally lose there will be a big backlash I'm sure, Just remember we weren't all spouting off about how we are going to do in this league!

I'm personally looking forward to the Bedfont fixture, as judging by the league has start it will be a real benchmark as to where we are. Also winter away games, midweek on bumpy pitches will show our character, but I have confident in that as our players are used to that in the local league. We have dealt well with travelling so far so I hope we can keep that up. We've got a big squad to hopefully handle it

Be interesting to see how GFC get on this weekend. Due to injuries etc the team will be much weakened, quite a few youngsters which will show how GFC might progress in the future, one player interested in seeing is the 16 year old former under 17 new Zealand international.

Before people complain, he was born in guernsey and player for the kiwis when his parents emigrated

There will be no backlash from me if we lose. I will applaud the team that does it :)

lol ! I am very passionate about my team which I guess can come across as arrogant. But I am a sportsman and if we lose I won't mind and I will applaud any team that beats us.

The problem is Smudge you do behave like a schoolyard bully of sorts.

Making a snidey point, allowing someone else to respond and usually rebuke then you claim some sort of pathetic triumph with a "made you bite" come back. That is a trait of a psychological bullying like it or not. And I dont think you realise it.

Either you believe your opinions and want them to be challenged and debated or you dont. I for one take posts on face value. I'm not wasting my time trying to work out if you are just trying to get a rise. I keep reading you are man of mature years. If only your posts reflected that.

I have to take offence at Big JRs comment earlier that the guernsey spat with some is more vitriolic than hornchurch v Romford.

Rubbish,to us it's the fiercest local derby in non league football, shame the dirty ground squatting pikey romturd fck off and play in Thurrock coz havering doesn't want you tw@ts,don't play in our league too often as we could batter them every year.No offence like!!!

Love it, EU !!

Whilst we're on the subject of Guernsey........... I think they have a serious point of being the premier Channel Island.

I just happed to notice an advert in the paper yesterday from M & S, pushing their £10 gourmet meals for two. You know the sort of thing - A main course, sweet and bottle of plonk, all for a tenner.

Available through-out the UK, AND GUERNSEY.

(Note.... NOT JERSEY !) Maybe Jersey have a claim for racial discrimination ?

:bolt:

Guernsey ......Guernsey....., Will they ever be NOT talked about this season ?

Right they have the biggest attendances 1500 average and will go up and not come down.

They have a very good squad worthy of a different level of which we do not know yet.

They have very good reports from teams who have played them at home and extremely good comments when visiting the Green Isle, they are treated above and beyond the call of duty.

I'd imagine teams can't wait to go over and play in front of a packed Garenne Stadium, i disagree with Donkey teams don't freeze

they are just outplayed and these are from comments of players who have been there.

to fully answer the question i think people percieve Guernsey as a well run team and club as a whole, they seem well liked by the people who have met them and played against them.

Guernsey seem likely to be promoted although not the walk in the park alot of people appear to think it will be,

Just a thought,

How are Guernsey perceived ?

I have read so many topics and post on this forum and they always by one way or other involve Guernsey to an extent.

Now i know we have a very passionate fan who post his confidence and dare i say it his arrogance about Guernsey and can get peoples backs up, but obviously truely loves his team.

On the other hand we have someone who knocks them at every oppertunity from small petty things to the larger grander scale without a hint of why !

I am slightly biased as i have friends on the Island and have indeed watched them on 3 occations, tw2ice here on the mainland and once over at Footes Lane.

(I would indeed suggest if you ever get the chance to go over do so) getting back to my point i am pleased they are in the CCL i have met the players in the bar after the game and they all come across as really nice people as are thier followers and staff.

What are everyone else's thoughts ?

Lets be honest we tend to knock success in this country.Guernsey are knocked for the following reasons.

1)Best team in the league.

2)Going to win the league.

3)Richest club.

4)Best supported.

5)Best website.

6)Practically french.

You do make very good points though, they are getting knocked for trying to be the best and we do tend to do that in the U.K.

How come my Bedfont Sports don't get knocked.................don't answer that !
