Sorry Guys And Girls !

I suspect there is a touch of flexibility so I would think with a couple of hours notice a change of name could be made (possibly with an admin fee charged). Thats mostly guesswork, but knowing the airline involved it would nt surprise me as they have retained a bit of that local airline service that you dont get with other flyers.

Airlines are usully quite reasonable, especially considering the linkup with aurigny who unlike flymaybe are usually quite helpful.

Question: when as a club, you contact guernsey fc about travel arrangements, does the club have to give people's names or just numbers of people when travelling? I have a follow up question when this is answered by someone.

ANYONE?????

I think you have to give the names in advance JJ but can be changed up to a point.

Can I just add though, I wanted my family to travel over by Ferry as flying out would cost too much. The only ferries from Portsmouth arrive at Guernsey 1710, unless travelling on a Friday they would miss the game. No ferries travelling back on Sunday either so just not practical !!! Sorry Guernsey FC but this has been a downfall for me.

Blimey Guernsey FC you better hurry and sort this ferry schedule out .............LOL !!! Come on YV get real...

What do you mean NG?

John, the reason for having to give the names is because you have to supply names in advance to the airline.

To the poster complaining about ferry times.... Condor are a law unto themselves! We have no control over them

Not complaining, I said it's just not practical and a down side for me. My family have always travelled with the clubs I have been involved in throughout my playing days and the chance to visit Guernsey could not be missed. Regular visits to Isle of Wight when playing in the wessex league were enjoyed with my wife and kids, usually paid for by the club also as they all used to help around the club. Ferries were said to be the alternative but in this case they are not. I know it's not GFC's fault.

You can day trip on the ferry from Weymouth. They are very early and late departures though and are £75 returns. So it is an option.

Appreciate that Gsy-spurs but the times and distance are a bit much when you have four kids in tow. Was hoping for leaving from in-laws at Bognor to Portsmouth, ferry across as foot passengers, taxi to ground, overnight stay and return journey next day. Never mind, I will still be there next week.

NG, I can only imagine your comment was made as you maybe don't think I was serious and just trying to dig at GFC.

I knew the reason for giving names as this is standard procedure at airports but my point is that travelling clubs are at a disadvantage as last minute call ups for players is probably impossible due to the airline not being able to change names at the last minute.

JJ,

Thats quite right, but wouldn't that only be once a season for CCL clubs but 17 league and how many cup games for Guernsey.

The only problem is as i think someone else has pointed out is that GFC has a list of players as they sort out flights etc.

They aren't the most convenient of times I must admit and the drive down to Weymouth adds to it for sure. We visited family Lower Kingswood, Redhill and the drive there and back in the early hours with 2 little ones was a bit trying at times!?!

Are the flights from Southampton an option?

The reason for ferry was to avoid the cost of flying. I just can't justify spending that much for one night.

You mean they can't get them changed to accommodate one family trip to a game over there..... That's not fair.

It might be worth looking at flights, some bargains out there sometimes. Look at flybe (aka flymaybe) or blue islands.

Funny sense of humour in Guernsey eh Tripster, guernsey spurs. But Y.V. was asking a serious question.

One of the last things I will be seeking from you is the definition of a good sense of humour. And feel free to ignore all the posts where we did our best to give a serious answer. Unfortunately for YV with 4 kids there isnt a cheap option. I wish there was. Because, just in case you have nt been able to make the intellectual leap yourself, it costs just as much for us to get off the island to watch a game as it does for those of you trying to come here.

I would point out, that we all have local games sortedout for xmas and new year. This year we have a match on 27th December. Theres no way a team could spend Christmas over in guernsey, just as we couldn't except them to spend time over here. So it may seem a bonus to them having a Xmas break, but last year it was all called off with the weather anyway, and my last team ended up losing momentum by not playing, and getting fat off of Xmas.
