The bars fine, the sea all end is fine - I have to try to concvince myself Park Lane is great as I can walk there from my house, and pop in the Jellie on the way - I'd have to get the bus to Waterside, and theres no Pubs - BUT HEY IF WE'RE GOING AFTER LEAGUE FOOTBALL THEN YIPPPEEE - WATCH OUT SOUTHEND.
(And to think I was getting enthusiatic about the 18 stepped north bank thats curently going in)
Canvey Till I die.

bring-it-on all those Ground insult boys !!

much of a muchness for me distance wise... no pubs so the bar will need to be big!! im not drinking in that poxy sports centre boozer .. still a captive market for the club, i hope they plan it carefully (ie build it exactly how i want)

but its years away yet.. so plenty of time to enjoy the the new north bank...18 steps you say!!!

JUST READ THE POSTING ON THE NEW GROUND AND MUST AGREE WITH THE NO RUNNING TRACK PLAN. THE ATMOSPHERE IS BAD ENOUGH AS IT IS. ALSO AFTER HARLOW, CROYDON AND GRANTHAM IT'S NOT THE SORT OF SET UP CONDUSIVE TO ENJOYING THE GAMES EITHER!! ALTHOUGH AS THERE IS ALREADY A RUNNING TRACK AT WATERSIDE, ONE OF THE SITES MENTIONED FOR THE NEW GROUND, AND HALF A MILE FROM THE OTHER(AS THE SLEIGH FLIES) THEN WOULD A TRACK BE PLANNED ANYWAY? ANYWAY AS CANV SAYS THIS WILL PROBABLY GO ON FOR A FEW XMAS'S YET.OVERALL IT IS GOOD TO HAVE SOME LONG TERM PLANS AFOOT, IT MIGHT PUT AN END TO THE JEFF KING'S PLAYTHINGS TAG GIVEN TO US BY THOSE POOR LITTLE RICH BOYS IN THEIR DETACHED HOUSES IN ST WHO?BANS.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

great news for the Canvey FC,a big stadium etc etc and what is good is that Canvey are building for the future BUT and it's only a small 'but' surely a 3rd road off the island must be top of the list of priorities if another big development takes place on the island ?? still im sure the 'suits' from the council have already thought of this..

good luck tonight against the swifts from heybridge, with the wind swirling off the estaury canvey could be advised to play some nice slick passes along the floor and break them down that way before boylan finishes em off in style !!

Great news and I agree with Crimbo that I do not even think that anyone connected with Football will want a running track and as Waterside already have a running track this will probably not happen.
Really hope this can be pulled off !!!
The new North Bank is starting to look very impressive and on schedule which is more important.

one thing going through my mind is what do we call the Canvey end ? if the pitch faces south/north then you have got the potential of 'the charfleets end' or the 'benfleet water tower end' or if faces east to west then you have got the 'garden centre end' or 'that long road that goes on forever where young lovers steam the windows up end' ....so the construction is vital here!! sorry i have quite clearly got to to much time on my hands today..!! well done last night and the result has certainly upset the gravesend crew who reckon (after reading their message board) that the game was fixed and all the heybridge players left the ground in new Merc's !! i sense cracks in the armour ...

Hmm, a name for the new stadium would be very interesting to discuss.
Prehaps Jeff will say - "Forget the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, we have the Stadium of Kings on Canvey Island!"
Matt CIFC

Canv, Crimbo Jimbo - why do you reckon it'll be a few Xmas's away yet ???? Unless my 'source' is unreliable I have it on fairly good promise that next season will be the last CIFC will play at Park Lane.
If the promotion drive is succesful this year, and pull in just a couple of huge gates next season then the North Bank would've paid for itself.
Will it be an all-seater ? I hope not, but I would really love a stadium like Chester (minus the one 'corner' in Wales)

If the ground is up at Northwick then you can crate up with booze in Safeway, and grab a bite to eat in McDonalds.
If you notice all the nice new grounds we've been to e.g Wigan & Chester were built on industrial estates just outside the city centre.
I can't see why we can't follow them (you wouldn't have to travel to the other side of the island)
Plus someone is bound to put a pub up there once they know what's there, but the King Canute will have to do for the mean time.
So what are we going to call the new stadium?
Pumpkin wink.gif" border="0

looks to me like jeff has some plans there (well drawings) and it dosen't look like there is a running track involved.. any chance we can get em put on the website?.. please tell me its terracing behind either goal.. sitting down to watch footy is not natural.. and where is the bar? (lets get the important stuff right, the details can be sorted later) san siro of the south

What does it get called???
How about "the best ***'King Stadium in Essex" or the "See what you get if you're consistent and play in the Conference (this means you, G&N) Ground" or perhaps something subtle like "Jack's Folly" or "Emma Law, where are you hiding"?
Will we let Concorde take over the new one when we're in the Premiership with a 60,000 all-seater, and will they still think they're a social club that plays a bit of football occasionally?
Answers on a postcard to anyone but me.
Seriously, I have read the press on the new home, but still can't make out whether we've actually got a)the funding, or B) the permission to go ahead with the project. I can't really believe that the Council love us THAT much!

If Southend ever get their new ground it will be a possibility that they will have to ground share with us. All them shrimpers damaging our stadium - no thanks!!!! As for the name, how about 'The Place Where Lee Boylan Score Every Game Stadium'?!?!?!

with regard to the funding I think now I know why the 50/50 is really a 90/10 in disguise - but lets hope it'll be worth it.
I'd love terracing behind each goal, and although I've posted it previous on this thread I just loved that Chester ground - real neat, compact and stylish.
