Who's Going To Be The First To Beat Guernsey ?

Recommended Posts

Can't say I've noticed any criticism of the Guernsey defence. Care to provide some quotes Sarnia?

TRS I recall that Guernsey defence looked very suspect centrally at the beginning of the season when viewing some goals they conceded on film.......some terrible defending against the long ball.....remember now ?

Nice Guy,

Guernsey defence looked solid to me, have seen them 3 times thus far and not conceded in any, was the back line then the same now as of the early season ?

Also have heard on the grapevine Guernsey players get very homesick (Ross Allen) so i'm not sure he will up sticks but saying that surely anyone would jump at the chance to play League Football.................wouldn't they ?

Regards

TRS, I find the search system on this forum frustrating (it's probably me!) but just by way of example, Tigger on this thread, Chollockbops on the Eversley v Guernsey thread, and (I recall) quite a few (and justifiably so I hear following the 2nd half performance that night, but one bad half doesn't necessarily reflect the reality, particularly as not one of the starting Guernsey back 5 were playing in the 2nd half) following the Horley v Guernsey friendly.

Just an observation.

Hi VR. If you note my comments, they state that the Guernsey defence looked square and vulnerable to the long ball down the middle at the BEGINNING of the season, it could be now that they have realised this and sorted their problem out. I have not seen them recently............... .

Maybe they changed it because you pointed it out NG ;)

No bite from me Hartley Hare, I wasn't there so I am sure you are right! My point is that most teams would probably take Guernsey's defensive record in the league thus far, and also that Guernsey do look to play in an attacking manner, which can mean that the defence is exposed at times, which does not necessarily mean the defence itself is suspect, but rather that Guernsey could be vulnerable to concede due to their style of play

weve conceded only two goals does that make us vulnerable to...................i dont wana be in guernseys boat smudge may turn on me ;)

LOL..........Have you noticed that too Newby.

All jokes aside i believe Sarnia has a point, but what i will say is when i saw them play each time they had a different Left full back and never looked comfortable on that side.

There's my tip for teams to play Guernsey..........Will scout for chip butties!

Am very suprised at the naiviety of C.C.L.Clubs,having only seen Guernsey twice this season my own personal view is as follows.Clubs are bending over backwards to accomodate their every request, they are not world beaters by any means. Are Knaphill,Warlingham,Worcester Park, pulling up trees in C.C.L.1 The answer is NO.Are the next Teams to visit going to test them NO.But when they have to visit Westfield, who have made a decent start, for a 7.45pm start,we will know how good they are in comparison to C.C.L. Premier.Reason I say this is because so far, in 2 night time trips to the U.K.they have yielded 1 draw,1 loss.plus an overnight stay.

As for bets being laid on C.C.L. Games this is totally out of order in my opinion, and should be looked into by the League. The same as the barriers behind the Goals,a masterstroke by Guernsey, wonder if Jersey know about this?Needs to be well stewarded in my opinion, for Players safety.Especially with 1600 in the ground.are there any rules regarding Stewards at Football matches I ask?

We had to lend them a kit Smudge, otherwise they would have been breaking Law 4 and would have had to have played in their vest and pants.

I see we play Westfield away as the next league game which will be a Tuesday night.

Tough game and how well GFC does in that one could depend heavily on who's available to go over and play.

Same will apply for the away game on Wednesday 26th October against (the mighty) Lamma's. These are the most testing games for the squad who i'm sure will be missing at least a couple of the first choice 11 in each of those games.

Nice friendly side.

I was at Meadowbank on Saturday, when they played Bookham in The Vase.

Still think Guernsey will take the points, given their present record.

..... but then again, I'm NOT a gambler !

I think TRS should come down and film this one! You would have a great elevated view from the clubhouse balcony in the new facilities!

The games have been excellently stewarded from my experience. The barriers behind the goal are no different In proximity to the pitch or effectiveness than what I saw at Cobham for example.

And believe me Jersey will know. Ask any Muratti keeper from either island and they'll tell you what it's like.
