I usually do my "hopping" in the Leicester area but as circumstances have me in the Heathrow area for a few days I thought that I would take the opportunity to check out Guernsey at CB Hounslow.

I was quite impressed by the CB's setup, better than the usual I see around my local area, and I enjoyed the match. Guernsey were very good, and whilst I'm not in touch with the CCL Div 1 standard, I'm sure that they are certs for promotion.

Whilst watching the game I got talking to another spectator who mentioned that there was another game involving CCL teams close by at Hanworth. With the Guernsey result a conclusion I left early and set my tom tom for Hanworth. What a great decision.

Almost got to the ground easy enough, the last 400 yards through quite an intimidating estate was the hard bit, but I got there to find another tidy little ground and the game all ready under way. Had to laugh at the gate that they had a sign annoucing who today's Grumpy Gateman was. Don't know what that was about.

I took my place amongst the locals in the covered standing area just in time to see hanworth go one up. Very partisan mob but very funny comments. In the remaining 10 minutes of the half I saw 2 more goals for the home side and then popped into the club house for a cuppa and the most wonderful chicken wrap. I also highly recommend the programme. It wasn't just full of adverts it actually had something to read.

Took my place for the 2nd half and watched a fantastic attacking display, much to the delight of my new friends, who by now had started refering to me as "my little northern monkey".

After the game went into the clubhouse with the boys to have a swift pint before returning to my hotel. Well I've never seen anything like it. What hospitality and what fun. Left on a bus a couple of hours later slightly worse for wear. i'm just about to get the bus back to reclaim my car but before I do I thought that I would come on here to thank the Combined Counties League for giving me a great day out. I will be back to watch more and if all your clubs provide after match hospitality like Hanworth I might have to consider a house move.

Thanks again to all at the Ranch and watch out for Guernsey.

You certainly picked a hospitable bunch in Hanworth Villa. Did well to escape as early as you did !!!!

If you ever popped down again let us know as I am sure there are plenty of clubs who would welcome you.

Thanks for your comments about Guernsey. People say I'm big headed when I say stuff like this but I think we will win the league easily.

We too are a very friendly, hospitable bunch who make funny comments during the game ! lol !

I guess we are too far for you to ground hop to ?

We average gates at about 1,500 so we generate a brilliant atmosphere.

The CCL is a great league for us to start in.
