Wars v farnham town fa vase

Nearly as eventful as last year! Wars took the lead very early on through a great Kieran Dias shot from the edge of the box, BBM levelled with a penalty and then got another with a lob over the keeper from long range. Penfold levelled before Wars had a pen saved from Neavesy (I think) after Dias was felled in the box. 2nd half didn't really match the first for excitement and there were no further goals. Farnham took the lead in extra time with another ball over the keeper, this time from Bunyan. A moment of controversy near the end when Dias was booked for diving in the box, with the home bench convinced it should have been a pen. Looking at it again, the defender left his leg out and Dias obliged by falling over it - would have been given by a different ref on another day....

Wars 2-3 Farnham well done farnham good luck in the next round.wars went 1 up with a brilliant bit of individual play by dias and a very tidy finish.Farnham replies from the penalty spot with a well taken pen.then a long ball from

Farnham a mix up in the defence put the Farnham striker through to lob coote in the wars goal 1-2 Farnham.this was definatley wars is best performance do far with the team playing some pretty football and winning their personal battles.a brilliant run from Danny penfold who was playing out of position at right bk beat 3. players and slotted it in from

18 yards 2-2 next up dias beats the centre half the full back on the cover dives in and brings him down penalty for wars,up stepped Liam

Neaves who was to have his kick saved by the Farnham keeper.second half was evenly matched with both sides having chances and wars had a stone wall penalty turned down when Callum nichol beat the Farnham back line put it past the keeper only to be blocked off yet the Lino or ref didn't see it??? Shocking extra time it was end yo

End then Farnham had a go from

25 yards and lobbed coote in the wars goal. Wars then went for broke had 3-4 up top dias went on a maize run only to be taken out cleanly in the area no penalty to

The whole grounds amazement even the Farnham bench who said it was blatant outcome was a yellow for dias for a dive, absolutley diabolical decision from the ref and his flagging Lino.I must say it even though I don't like to I have never seen such a ba set of officials in all the time I have played senior football they really spoilt the day and wars didn't deserve to lose and with the two pens who knows.i imagine it's a hard job to do and we are probably short of decent officials at this level but today was absolutley disgraceful and embarasiing no wonder they never came in the bar afterwards.once again good luck to Farnham in next round

Spot on reports! We were expecting a tough game and got it. Very surprised Dias wasn't giving a pen at the end. I heard the contact from the half way line and then to book him was even harsher! Great result for us in a proper cup tie and glad to go through.

Good luck to Wars this season. Good manager and players so i'm sure they will start finding consistency and be up there by the end of the season.

Happy they have finally got some new nets up there without any holes!!! :D

Who was the referee?

more so what was your take on the DISALLOWED PENALTY,thought it was clever play by dias hanging his leg out, contact was made for sure, definite penalty, booking a disgrace. Is a keeper now allowed to move of his line nowadays for a PENALTY,hence the save.

No such thing as a disallowed penalty! Either a penalty is given or it is not.

In my opinion, based on the view I have from the camera footage, I'd have given a penalty. The referee and assistant would have had different views at the time and I'm not sure what they discussed. It's not shown on the video, but how did the assistant flag at the time of the incident?

Smudge

I can't view the footage at work so can't comment specifically on your point. However, in general, in their pre-match brief to ARs, a referee may mention this and say that a pace forward is enough and anymore is taking the mick (e.g. the keeper is closer to the 6 yard line than the goal-line). He might also tell his ARs that prior to taking their position at the junction of the goal-line and penalty area line, the AR reminds the keeper about his position and movement. The AR can then adopt a position whereby his right foot is on the junction of the lines and his left foot is the requisite distance apart as a guide to how far the keeper has moved.
