This Season!

After todays Top Notch Performance by the lads it has got me thinking somewhat.

Todays gate of 220 is still in my mind around 50 less than it should be but on a par with last season and still around 170 more than we were getting in the late 90's.There were many faces missing today and they would be for a number of reasons but i really think they are missing something at the moment by not turning up.No doubt once the FA Cup turns up next Saturday, all the one time regulars will be back for that game and if we play like we did today then we will win and hopefully those will turn up more often.I believe the people running the club deserve better than they are currently getting from the good folk of upminster & hornchurch. We all like to moan  about below par performances but it isn't cheap to run a football club and it is hard work and you don't make money out of it at this level, you only lose it,thats why for every poor gate we get,it hampers us financially. We can't all moan about getting new players in or playing a different style of football and expect everything to change on gates of sub 200.We all want to get out of this league and into the Conference South but clubs that do need a level of support on matchdays to substain this.I believe we now have a team capable of winning the league this season, its by far the best team since we got promoted and playing the best football. But the gates must improve as i am sure it will if we keep playing the way we are.My message to those who are staying away at the moment is that we have a very good side at the moment and although we lost 3 on the trott recently,we were the better side by far in all those encounters. If we can get the Eastside and Riverside bustling again it will help the players and team and act like a twelth man and although the atmosphere was good today it was 10 blokes and a couple of kids singing which is hardly putting fear amongst the opposing teams players. So lets get behind the team and get back over to the bridge as you really are missing out on something this season,15 goals in 6 games is proof of that.I think it says alot about the existing supporters that at the start of September the Membership numbers for this seasons Supporters Association is in its 70's which is the highest number of members since the Supporters Association started,so we must be doing something right!!

Agree with all of the above. I haven't seen Hx outplayed by anyone this season and we deserve to have more points then we've got. Someone was going to get a hammering before long, just unlucky for Tooting that it was them. Club needs support from the fans though if they are to continue - I hope we can as we've got a really exciting team at the moment.

We had the usual yesterday as well.I do the 50-50 and see everyone who comes in until about 10 past but still I see the same old faces sneaking in at half time,I wouldn't mind if they were kids looking to watch a half of football but the majority are grown men who believe me aren't short of a bob or two

The gates are always gonna be a headache until we get a top draw side in the fa cup as regards the team best I've seen in a long time just look at the quality on the bench yesterday there is no side to fear in this division except us please hx don't make me eat humble pie and do the business

Had a good draw not so long ago Dave when Peterborough came to town. 3000 turned up but the crowd soon went back down to normal with in 2-3 games. Its got to be harder to attract new people to watch due to the curent economic climate which wont get better for many a year to come.

people are more worried about paying the gas, electric and Asda bill's. I think crowds for football at our level will continue to go down.

I agree we should be getting more people through the gate and that the club deserves it, but since when do people get what they deserve? I am hoping that our recent performances will continue and more goals are scored at home because that is up there with the best ways of attracting more fans.

Regarding people coming in at half time to watch 45 mins of free football, that needs to be sorted out by the club because it is unacceptable.
