Windsor 3-0 Oxford City Nomads

Well I enjoyed that.

Our task was made easier with the (deserved) red card (but we were already 2-0 up weren't we?) but I thought we looked fitter than before and played much more as a team.

All the new guys did well and one could see the confidence starting to flow as the game wore on.

The Nomads are obviously a decent side and played some nice possession football but rarely got anywhere with it.

Excellent goal from Kyle Anthony. Lovely burst through their defence and a cracking finish.

I thought we were actually bloody lucky. We hardly attacked their goal between the opening penalty and - well, our next goal, ~35 minutes later. Meanwhile Oxford were doing complicated things like, ooh, passing to another player on their side; or holding on to the ball, running, and *then* passing to another player on their side.

And then I thought "now there's a really useful concept, passing to someone in the same colour shirt".

Not that it lasted for long.

Weak points? mmmmmm yes.

ALL the new guys did well..........Sparksey & all, I told you new signings were being made ! Was one a defender ? What were their names ? Windsor Sec. did you say that when the signings have been made, you would let your supporters know ? Just been on your website and I cannot see any such report unless I'm looking in the wrong place !

centre back chris ellis from molesey who has a massive long throw and the other guy is dapo abitogun whose a left back who played at heybridge swifts last year whilst hatcher was back from suspension. yash romeo was also employed as a forward which is also something of a rare occurrence!!

Ellis looked as if he was playing just in front of Tilbury and Anthony yesterday with Hatcher at right back until it was changed a bit second half! So we had a left back playing left midfield then?

Dan S it should be remembered they were third in their division, which is at the same level as ours. I thought we were very comfortable and after Croydon and dorking it was a welcome return to form. New players settled in well and we looked more of a team.

Sparksy - I know it can be frustrating when updates don't appear very quickly but you have to remember we're a club run by volunteers all of whom have full time jobs. We don't know when those pieces of paperwork were signed. We don't know the circumstances of those volunteers personal lives. We should be thankful for all forms of help.

Point taken about volunteers and all that Geggy but the signing of Ellis was apparantly in the local paper on th 2nd September so someone at the club must have told them and it would take no more than a couple of minutes for someone at the club to announce it on the forum!

Much better display yesterday. We looked dangerous on the attack and much stronger at the back.

It was great to see Yash Romeo actually playing up front. His talents seem wasted stuck out on the right flank. Ever since Romeo & o'Toole played so well together against Slough we've been keen to see their partnership re-united and 2nd half we got that. No disrespect to anybody else who's partnered o'Toole so far but o'Toole & Yash look our most potent strike partnership.

Hatcher seemed to make a difference, he's just what we have been missing, somebody to put their foot in and give the ball to the likes of Ashe.

Also fair play to Ashe yesterday, he seemed to have been targeted for special treatment from the nomads but every time he got scythed down he just got up dusted himself down and got on with the game, I thought he had his best game since the Slough match yesterday.

Considering I was out on long-days in the middle of nowhere both Friday and Saturday perhaps you should just be thankful I had the time to get the players registered on time to play in this game let alone publicise their arrival at the club !

After 31 years with the old and new clubs I could do with a rest, can I put you forward as a volunteer ?

Nope i wouldnt volunteer because i know i wouldnt have time to do it! But all i'm saying is it would be nice to turn up on a match day and know who i was watching!! I realise people are busy with other projects but surely your not the only one who could post Windsor Sec!!

Well, I know for sure that there was a team sheet up in Scotty's Tea Bar. I even popped one up where I was selling programmes from.

Sparksy,it may have been mentioned in the paper on 2nd September but the forms had not gone through then. As stated earlier we will, when possible, announce signings once all the paperwork has been submitted, checked and verified that the player is officially a Windsor FC player.

Just read the NLP report and they seem to think you are still called Windsor & Eton! Better let them know. ;)

I saw that too shocker on there part they have been reporting on the reformation of the club over the summer and then still get the name wrong!!!!!! On the game though much better all round but still room for improvement as we all know. Thought Chris Ellis looked good for his debut the 11 took his goal well as already stated thought Bartlett played well second Half .

Thought we looked a different side, such was the difference the 3 new players made.Chris Ellis looks solid and is difficult to shrug off the ball,Joe Hatcher looks top of his game as well. Some of our football was good to watch and I feel we can go on from here, even Alex Jeffers has to come back yet although I agree that Yasha better up front than out wide so competeition for the strikers positions as well.

Oxford City Nomads has a lot of first half possesion and play some good football but we defended very well by getting back in numbers and closing them down as well.I actually thought they were the best side we have faced so far so it bodes well for the future as far as i can see.

Teams shaping up nicely to be honest.
