That's it folk!

Full Time Score

Town 2 Needham Market 2

Sounds like a cracker of a match and a great comeback by Town to share the points.

Same result as last season, but this time a four-goal thriller. Well done Steve and the players.

Was this a fair result? Did we play well? Will be interested to hear your views on the match and our overall performance.

Could have lost. Could have won. Should have lost. Should have won.

Credit for coming back from 2 down.

Sorry Littlehampton. It was not a cracker.

What Rob was doing at times in goal left us wondering whether he knew the laws of the game.

Shame to see a player be subbed and throw his toys out of the pram. Does he not realise that a volunteer somewhere has to clean up his mess?

Oh dear!

Interested to read your comments on the match andyetfc. Appears I got it wrong. From down here on the south coast it sounded like a really good match between two well matched sides. Think it shows quite a lot of commitment and character to comeback from a two goal deficit. How and why we got ourselves in that position in the first place is probably another story.

Can't comment on your other points, but am sure other people at the game will.

I enjoyed the game.

I did'nt enjoy us being 0-1 and 0-2 down to a pot shot for the first and that git Sam Newson showing why he should be a Conf South player/striker when turning Kirbs inside out.

But all 3 subs came on (Hope, Sivva and Ailey) and all 3 effected the change of the game where we could have won 3-2 4-2 in the end.

It was a steady game against a team that will occupy a top 5 place. On today's showing we have every reason to expect ourselves to be in that top 5 too.

Dean Pennant definately offers us something different in midfield which we did not have last season. worrying though we now have Gio, Lockie, Kane and Bardle out all injured.

We go into the Harlow game with a winning point and in positive mode. As for our man throwing his shirt off, well that was just funny and not too much should be made of it.

Very good highlights CE.

Andy, as an ex ref, how do you explain the apparent inconsistency with regard to the indirect free kick awarded for the supposed "deliberate" pass back by Kirbs yet it not being awarded at the other end around 5 minutes later.

It was my view that the ball may not have been passed back by Kirbs but was a tackle which could have come of the Needham player. There certainly was nothing deliberate about it.

The Needham pass back however was quite deliberate. Apart from the indirect free kick I thought the ref had a reasonable game yesterday.

I think number 7 was subbed as he may not have stayed on the pitch for the whole of the second half his tackles were always clumsy and he was a poor player.

Stuart's antics when he was subbed were also over the top. He had missed at least two reasonable chances, he was not getting into goal scoring positions and at that stage of the game something had to be done. I criticised Steve's substitutions last week but the result demonstrated that this week he got it right.

At 0 - 2 we have to be pleased with a point.

As others have said, but for some better finishing we may even have won the game.

I thought the introduction of Jay, Daniel and Liam changed the shape and the passing improved.

We all have favorite players and we all make comment about those we are not keen on, but we do not pick the side.

I would change the shape of the team, but as stated before it is all about opinions.

On Tuesday we need to start the game in the same "mode and attitude" as we showed in the final 30 mins on Saturday.

The ref must have felt it was not a back pass! It looked to some as a very poor attempt at a clearance which happened to go to the keeper.

Enfield Town (0) 2 Matata 62, Hope 76

Needham Market (1) 2 Chaplin 37, Newson 48

Attendance 210

Enfield appeared to start in a defensive mindset and gifted much of the early initiative to Needham’s forward. Early on a low ball from Sam Newson on the left was almost turned in by Danny Bloomfield. Phil Kane had to scramble clear and Scott Chaplin had a shot deflected behind for a corner. Enfield eventually got themselves going forward and a Joe Stevens corner saw Stuart Blackburne’s header come of the back of keeper Andrew Plummer. Kane then beat Plummer with a cross from the left but Blackburne headed over from close range. Gavin Johnson then cut out a cross with a desperate header and Plummer held the follow up shot. Just as they were getting into a rhythm a lapse at the back left Newson free but he scooped his shot over the bar. Danny Thrower then took too long before shooting allowing Dan Forward to intercept. Plummer then did well to palm over a header from Kirby as the game kept up it’s tempo Stuart Blackburne was played in and chipped Plummer only to see the ball clear the bar. Town were caught when Chaplin found himself unmarked on the left side of the box and looped a shot over Blackburne into the net. Dave Kendall should have levelled before the break but was unable to turn the ball in at the near post. Town were lucky not to be two down at the break when Newson looked to have beaten Rob Blackburne but the keeper just managed to turn the ball onto the post.

The luck didn’t last as just after half time, Newson turned Kirby before cutting inside and sliding a shot under Blackburne. Thrower then had a shot tipped over as Enfield went missing for a period. Jey Siva replaced the injured Kane and it sparked a positive change for Town. Revitalised, Kendall headed over a Kirby cross, then a nod down from Stuart Blackburne was thundered home by Walid Matata. Liam Hope then replaced Blackburne and nearly got a goal turning the ball just wide. Town’s recovery was almost snuffed out when Rob Blackburne was penalised for picking up a back pass. James Evans drilled the free kick into the wall and Chaplin drifted a shot wide. In a hairy few minutes Blackburne was fortunate to get away with electing to play the ball past Bloomfield before clearing. Needham also rode their luck and a great move from Siva saw him cut the ball back to Jon Moore who saw his shot spin wide off the post. Newson then fired wide before Enfield levelled when Hope stepped inside and picked his spot firing home from 25 yards. Johnson nearly turned home a corner from Thrower, but a quick fire move for Enfield saw the ball cannon around the Needham penalty box but somehow not cross the line. The last chance fell to Newson, but this time Blackburne was decisive and out swiftly to deny the Needham striker. In the end, both teams had to settle for a share of the points, though one side will have been relieved and the other disappointed.

Enfield Town : Rob Blackburne, Dan Forward, Phil Kane(Jey Siva 55), Dave Kendall, Mark Kirby, Dean Pennant, Adam Wallace, Jon Moore, Stuart Blackburne(Liam Hope 62), Walid Matata, Joe Stevens(Daniel Ailey 66).

Subs Not Used: Wesley Beckles, Michael Ewang.

Booked: Kendall

Needham Market: Andrew Plummer, James Evans, Lewis Pemberton, Bradley Barber, Phil Boyland, Gavin Johnson, Deakan Napier (Craig Bussens 45), Danny Thrower, Sam Newson, Danny Bloomfield, Scott Chaplin (Duane Wright 66)

Subs Not Used: Ryan Foster, Rhys Barber, Darcy De’Ath

Booked: Bloomfield, Wright.

I have to agree with Andy there as it looked like a sliced clearance that went towards the keeper while Kirby's looked like he steered the ball back towards Rob, but as with the ref it's all a matter of your view of it.
