I know this sounds bad but im so glad i didnt bother making the longish trip to watch Hanwell Town play today. Insted i made the very short trip to watch Feltham beat Worcester Park 3 2 it was well worth the £3 entrance fee.

Set your sat-nav up for Division 1 grounds for next season at this rate SB

At the moment it does look like this could well happen :(

Saturday 10 September

FA Vase First Qualifying Round

2-1 Winslow United v Holyport

A report on this one from another's Forum, well done Winslow!:

FA Carlsberg Vase 1st Qualifying Round

Winslow United 2 Holyport 1

Admission £5.00

Programme £1.00

Attendance 80ish

Opportunties for new localish ticks in the Vase are rare these days but this one had been pencilled in since the draw was made back in July.

Poor & niggly game delayed for 30 minutes in the first half by a head injury to a visiting player, thankfully he seemed OK when being helped into the ambulance on the pitch and his trip to hospital seemed more precautionary than anything else, I wish him well.

Ground is one of the better ones in the SSML Div 2 being fully railed with some hard standing an Atcost Stand just outside the clubhouse and is about 5 minutes walk away from Buckingham Town's temporary home.

This was the home team's first Vase game since 1991 and they now have another home tie to look forward to against either Hook Norton or Wokingham & Embrook on Saturday 24th September.

Saturday 10 September

FA Vase First Qualifying Round

1-0 Berkhamsted v Stotfold

A report on this one from another's Forum:

FA Vase 1st Qual Rd

Berkhamsted 1-0 Stotfold

Adm £5, prog £1, tea 50p

A 14.58 kick-off left me nervously watching the gate for the arrival of Barry the Twat demanding a re-start, but we were spared.

An entertaining game with not much between the sides. The longer it went on, the more feisty it got on the pitch. The atmosphere wasn't helped by some eclectic decisions by the ref and him managing to get in the way of a quick free kick at just the wrong time in the game, shortly after a flare up.

Just as I was thinking we would get the extra half hour, a home player got free down the left, got a good cross in (at a premium all day) and the ball was glanced in at the far post. The visitors thought they had scored late on but the ball was somehow scooped up onto the underside of the bar then hacked away.

One of the home team went off in the first half with an ankle injury and when the teams came out for the second half enquiries from his family as to his health were met with manifest concern:

Player 1 "Oh, he's moaning about nothing the big wuss"

Player 2 "Yeah, I had a look and I think they'll have to cut it off"

Player 3 "Looks like ligaments, it's swollen up quite a bit - it's nearly as big as his nose now"

Fortunately he did indeed seem all right as he took a seat in the stand later on.

FA Vase First Qualifying Round

2-3 Hatfield Town v Sporting Bengal United

A brief report from another's Forum, Hatfield couldn't quite repeat their FA Cup heroics:

FA VASE PRELIMINARY ROUND

HATFIELD TOWN [1] 2,

SPORTING BENGAL UTD [1] 3,

[After extra time]

Admission: £5

Programme: £1

Sporting Bengal emerged victorious in this decent cup tie against Hatfield Town. Hatfield Town took the lead after 27minutes from the penalty spot. The away team equalized after 40minutes and it stayed 1-1 after 90minutes. Sporting Bengal went in front with a headed goal after 103minutes and went 3-1 up from the penalty spot after 107mins. The home team pulled a goal back from a corner after 119mins.

Congratulations to Hertford Town for employing the SSML's first Trappist manager. 120 minutes played today and not a single word heard from the new man in charge (by supporters or players so it seems). Maybe he was too busy ticking the correct boxes on his clipboard or maybe he noticed that the Bowers & Pitsea manager got red carded for daring to speak. I don't think I have ever been to a game and felt embarrassed that my team scraped into extra time, but HTFC really did not deserve much from this game and the penalty decision that kept them in the game in the dying minutes was nothing short of farcical. All in all, what a complete shambles and good luck to B & P in the next round.

Yeah Worcester Park were a big team! but you did a job that needed doing!

Its good to see Feltham FC doing well this season after there recent years at the bottom end of the table. Im hopping to get down for your midweek home cup game on Wednesday the 21st of September.

Keep up the good work at Feltham!
