Strictly Come Dancing 2011

Recommended Posts

I see that the contestants for this years extravaganza, which kicks off this weekend, were announced yesterday. Wait for it, Alex Jones presenter of The One Show, Anita Dobson who played Angie Watts in Eastenders, ‘boxer’ Audley Harrison, actress Chelsee Healey, sports journalist Dan Lobb, former Conservative MP Edwina Currie, musician Harry Judd of McFly ‘fame’, singer Holly Valance, former Neighbours star Jason Donovan, Lulu who seems to have been around donkeys years, Sven Goran-Eriksson’s ex Nancy Dell’Olio who should double viewing figures on her own as should Robbie Savage, impressionist Rory Bremner and lastly astrologer and supposed ‘friend’ of every Middlesex County FA affiliated Non League Club Russell Grant.

Unfortunately Bruce Forsyth, Tess ‘the scores are in’ Daly and Claudia Winkleman are still presenting however the judging panel of Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Alesha Dixon also remains the same and are good value particularly Tonioli:

You'll be voting to keep Robbie Savage in each week then Rent Boy?

Yet another reason to stick to I.T.V. on Saturday evening !

My Grand- Son, who detests dancing calls it "Strictly Come Prancing".

I, on the other hand, have a completely different name for it !

Oooh... bit touchy on the subject then Rent Boy. Never mind, you're out of the closet now.

Eastside Urchin - And that’s just the celebrities isn’t it, what about the professional dancers!

Eastside Urchin - I wonder whether Loosely will be watching Strictly Come Dancing with his eyes bulging and tongue hanging out on Saturday!

Eastside Urchin – I bet Loosely’s type is Nancy Dell’Olio, I bet he can’t wait to see her strut her stuff and fantasise about being in Sven’s shoes when they were together

I thought it might be an idea to try and guess which professional dancers will be paired with this years crop of celebrities before the partnerships are announced on the show on Saturday evening. I’m assuming it will be the same 14 as last year with a reminder of their partners from last years extravaganza, won by Artem Chigvintsev and Kara Tointon, in brackets:

Anton Du Beke (Ann Widdecombe)

Vincent Simone (Felicity Kendal)

Jared Murillo (Tina O'Brien)

Robin Windsor (Patsy Kensit)

Artem Chigvintsev (Kara Tointon)

Brendan Cole (Michelle Williams)

James Jordan (Pamela Stephenson)

Natalie Lowe (Scott Maslen)

Ola Jordan (Paul Daniels)

Flavia Cacace (Jimi Mistry)

Kristina Rihanoff (Goldie)

Erin Boag (Peter Shilton)

Aliona Vilani (Matt Baker)

Katya Virshilas (Gavin Henson)

I won't attempt to guess all the pairings but Anton Du Beke and Edwina Currie are surely nailed on unless he gets Nancy Dell’Olio. I wonder which of the professional dancers will draw the short straw in Russell Grant and be voted out in the first week.

I just heard an interesting interview with Edwina Currie on Radio Five Live, it was quite an insight into the extravaganza that starts tonight and she said that what you see on tv is exactly what you get, there is nothing false about the show at all unlike X Factor, much of which I'm pretty sure is staged with Simon Cowell pulling all the strings.
