Good luck to margate in the FA youth cup .

If i read correctly-they are away to St Francis rangers on thursday night.

(excuse ignorance-but don't know who SFR are and from where !

I assume this fixture is still happening .

Goodness knows what the team will be-and indeed who will be 'managing'

Is that something for SP and KB to sort.

Good luck anyway

No major surprise given the circumstances-well done regardless.

I trust CK was paying attention and saw that at least the youth team 'followed the rules' that categorically state that Margate are not allowed to win cup games

The team of Margate Youth Under 16 and Jack Smethers did very well and many of the lads caught the eye with their play. (I personally thought highly of Abdoulie Cokk,Thomas Dunford and Taylor Lawrence)

First goal was a corner to the back post that was not dealt with after 12 mins, the second a snap shot from the edge of the box which our keeper, Charlie Houseman, blocked but was beaten to the loose ball after 80 mins and the third in the 87th mins with our players dead on their feet as usually only play 80 minute games. We were only able to take 2 subs with us. We were denied a late consolation goal by the home teams keepers point blank save which left him injuried although throughout the match we matched the hosts and did have several chances.

This is not to take anything away from St Francis Rangers and the game as a whole was enjoyable to watch.

Talking to our hosts they were worried when the score was still 1 0 and were relieved when the second goal went in.

Many thanks to Chris Chambers and Luigi Scott for guiding the team and Graeme for getting us there and back safely

Handled properly the lads should progress through the ranks of Margate teams and things bode well for the future

A well, seems as though i have lost my job as match reporter as well.

What a fitting end to my involvement with the reserve/ youth games. I was as so proud of those guy's last night. As Mr Empson say's They are a credit to their Manager Chris Chambers and Luigi.

As the club assistant secretary and reserve guru Mr Empson Said, The 1st goal was a Corner not dealt with, The second i disagree it was a very well worked free kick that caught our senior player napping, allowed the lad to run through the heart of our defence. For the 3rd the defender was turned but, in his defence he had just received a dead leg so was not 100% mobile, you would have been hard pressed to see a better worked goal on Match of the Day.

The lads competed and until the 2nd goal had been as competitive as St Francis. The 2/3 year gap was the major difference.

Listening to their conversations on the way back home it became apparent how little these kids know about the main club, something that needs addressing.

On asking our keeper who his goalkeeping coach was he said he had never had one.Something else that needs addressing before we lose a potential main club keeper of the future.

PS. Not only do the lads play 40 min halves in their league but also have a rolling subs rule.

Forgot to add well done to Graeme for taking the lads and sad to see his involvement ending in Reserves/Youth, am certain his time and effort he has put into this will be sorely missed in the future.
