FA cup result sunday 4th Sept 2011

overall a decent performance in what could have been a tough tough game

BInfield gave it a good go but we were worthy winners in the end

some sloppy moments at times when it appeared we were taking it for granted that we would win without too much effort

Burnell took his goals well. the penalty was superbly put away. unsavable quite frankly

good to see Abbey grab a goal. gotta feel for the guy he hasnt had much chance this season but he is a class act and took his chance when it came

Mpi may well never score the way its going for him. so many chances he has had but he just cant get that goal. when he gets 1 and builds confidence i can see him grabbing loads of goals (hopefully)

1-0 was probably a fair reflection of the first half.

First 10/15 minutes of the second half we started slowly and Binfield were on top and deserved to equalise and were looking good to grab a second after a period of poor play from us where we gave the ball away far too easily.

The penalty came at a crucial time with Charlie's pace earning a stonewall penalty. After the penalty we regained our confidence and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Nice few quid in the kitty and a stern test at Banbury to look forward to.

We deserved the win yesterday

I was impressed wih Binfield though, a very good little side and better than some of the sides that show up in our league. Also they brought around 50 fans which is more than most of our league so fair play to them

I think we started well and then got a little comfortable after the initial dominance. They equalised and deserved it but then we upped our game and showed why we are in the higher league.

I hope we give Banbury a good game and have a little bit of a cup run

I also thought than Abbey looked class when he came on, his build up play and nuisance was as good as Burnell and shows what quality in depth we have in the squad

Saw the game yesterday, got the result we wanted.I do feel that Charlie has'nt come to the Rebels just to be an "impact" sub.It would be such a shame to lose a player of that potential without even giving him a run in the team.It seems St Neots are'nt getting it all their own way after the season has started however the money will get them they're in the end!!Off to Rugby next week, hope they let us play with our shaped ball!!

And leave out who? Burnell (7 goals) or Sonner (4 goals)?! Charlie is a bright lad and will know he'll get his chance. He'll also know that it's wrong to change a team that is winning.

Mpi coming on always seems to mean loads of chances BUT we cant justify dropping Sonner or Burnell when Mpi cant score no matter what he tries at the moment (how good was that jumping improvised volley he tried Sunday btw!!)

as said Sonner will probably be out a week or two anyway. not easy to play Burnell and Abbey together probably but Abbey was superb yesterday and is really almost the forgotten man at the club. fans always want Mpi to be playing and thats fair enough he is a quality player but Abbey is a lot better than most seem to realise and his footballing CV is pretty damn impressive

Whilst all 4 are good players with different attributes and I'd like to be proved wrong but I just think out of our 4 strikers you could have these combinations: Sonner & Burnell, Sonner & Abbey, Sonner & Mpi, Mpi & Burnell and Mpi & Abbey... I'd be very sceptical of any aerial threat with a partnership of Burnell & Abbey, not doubting any of them as players just think that partnership is a last resort!!!

Nice to see Terry Brown there on Sunday(now AFC Wimbledon manager of course) but a former Slough Town playing hero.He told me he was there as an ex Slough man but also as a Binfield resident so interested genuinely in the game... he didnt seem to take any notes and maybe it was as well in a way that some of our traditionally better players didnt always look the part so no danger I hope of AFC approaches !

Thought the game was good, scoreline eventually told the true story although Binfield certainly impressed with the quality of their football and should do okay in their league.

Yellow cards around again.....Danny Murphy who has had a super playing start to the season managed to pick up his fourth already....when the inevitable ban comes with the sort of refs we are getting, who would wear the 3 shirt in his absence........is his namesake Michael still around ?

I think it's inevitable that Danny will pick up a fifth and a ban at some stage. With Wooz and Brown coming back to fitness I guess we could revert to 3-5-2 which would make it easier to fill the left wing back slot than a dedicated left full back.
