Stotfold v Town FA Cup

Average attendance for the Ryman north this year is 136. Town's average is 199. I expect, as EU says, that the average will rise once the new ground is opened but we must open with a fanfare and try to get the shops in the town excited over the event.

Average attendance in Ryman Premier is 317. Of recently promoted, poorly supported teams, Aveley, East Thurrock, Concorde and Wingate their average attendance is 147, 156, 163 and 219 respectively.

I would suggest that based on these figures we should see our average rise to over 300 if promoted rather than the 250 suggested by EU.

Wingate and Finchley - not noted for record breaking crowds only had 111 present to see Lowestoft who do send a few travelling fans but this was in August when Lowestoft would have been busy during the summer season. They had 376 to see the met police.

Interestingly the met average crowd is higher with travelling support (503 at Lewes) than home where their average crowd is only 173! Perhaps they have a novelty following at away grounds.

So increase in attendances doesn't always go hand in hand with promotion.

It is hoped that attendances will increase at the donkey dome but it won't happen unless the move is made attractive to those who may consider spending their time doing other things.

I get the impression that you have an idea or two, Andy! Do tell!

Presumably, at present we have 'running costs' for a half-share at Brimmo, and as it is a 30 year lease these will continue after the move? Then again, will we not continue to receive half of the takings from ourn semi-home Brimmo (which I presume we do now)?

I'd have thought that the income from the new stadium will exceed expenditure on it, as I thought that that was the whole point of it!

I cannot believe that our Board has not thought of all this!

PS - 'donkey dome???????????????????????????????????'

Yes yes Andy, I'd understood the derivation of Donkey Dome, but is this really what we're calling it? On reflection though, as those not fortunate enough to support ETFC are likely to seize upon Donkey Lane as a term of abuse (I understand some football supporters do that sort thing...) then we are defusing it by getting in first, so to speak!

"Where were you, where were you, where were you at the Donkey Dome?"

" We are Enfield Town, we are Enfield Town, super Enfield Town, from the Dome...."
