Hitchin Town have signed goalkeeper Richard Wilmot for the fourth time in the 33 year-old's long career. Wilmot, a popular figure with the Hitchin crowd during his spells with the club, joined after being released by St.Albans City.

During Wilmot's long career, he has also played for Stevenage Borough, Halifax, Scunthorpe, Aylesbury, Hendon and Pirton. He made his Canaries debut in 1996, a 0-4 home defeat at the hands of Stevenage, and ended his last spell at Top Field in 2001.

"We now have two top quality goalkeepers competing for the same shirt, which can only be good," says Manager Robbie O'Keefe.

I wish they'd all go to be honest.

Let's just have people at the club who actually want to play for the club, yeah? Rather than greedy twats who just consider it a well-paid, part-time job to supplement their first income.

The reserve side are the way forward. Local lads with pride who genuinely want to play well for themselves, their club and for their home town.

We don't have any money....the squad we have is too expensive and not much good anyway....and John Gibson is absolutely right to stick to the budget....what i am saying is that we should prepare to be competing in the Ryman league next year and developing good young players etc. with a longer term plan to get into the Conference South after amalgamating with London Colney and/or the new Hatfield Town.

I believe deacon will be back this week? Should be training with 1st team this week! Maybe he will make bench for saturday..but if hes fit do you think he should start?maybe right midfield?or back in the center where he can win the ball and work hard!Think we have been lacking a few ball winners aswell!

Shame bout 3rd goal with seeby on sat,but hes young and can only get better..just hope our young players stay with us?!

how well do peps think our young boys have done??atleast we know we will get 100%!!think maybe couple others of youth should be on bench more regulary!happened with deacs last year and look how hes come on!Perhaps the future is bright if we can keep our young stars!!??

That is exactly my point, monkey boy.

I want to see more of them playing in the first team each week, and gradually phase out these other mercenaries, who don't care whether they're playing for St Albans or whoever, as long as they're picking up their wad at the end of each week.

Well we've certainly made a start. Cookie's been down the last two home reserve games, and Cross, Cogger, Hanson and Parsons have been on the bench recently. One or two others will be knocking on the door soon too.

I would have liked to have seen Cogger come on for Williams on Saturday, he's got the pace and skill to rattle a few defences.

all for it

rather go down fighting, than raise the white flag at the earliest opportunity and contemplat that lovely brown enevlope...

for those of you who INSIST in watching the first team away, save yourselves the bother and watch the ressies instead
