That's it folk !!

Full Time Score 4 - 0

Sounds like a great performance and an emphatic win for the Town.

Well done to Steve and his players on an excellent result.

Will be interested to hear what Town supporters have to say about the match.

I'm more interested in what Papa Lazarou has to say.

Newing out! Newing out!

I'll get me coat...

Very pleased and much improved. Well done.

As I was told earlier, one game does not make a season. Also Maldon were one of the worst teams I have ever seen at this (poor) level.

Onwards and upwards - bring on the Redbridge. Cheers, Papa.

Enfield Town (1) 4 S.Blackburne 14, 55 (P), Wallace 72, Pennant 75

Maldon & Tiptree (0) 0

Attendance 215

Enfield Town started strongly with early chances for Adam Wallace and Stuart Blackburne causing problems for Rhys Madden in the Maldon goal. Dave Collins came close for the visitors putting a shot onto the roof of the net from out wide, but it was Enfield’s efforts that paid off when Mark Kirby picked out Adam Wallace at the back post unmarked. The Enfield striker’s header turned the ball along the goal line leaving team mate Stuart Blackburne a simple job to nod home. Blackburne had chances to extend the lead with a shot to the near post only to find Rhys Madden in the way. Former Town player Michael Deane tried his luck but Phil Kane was alert to the danger. Enfield edged the half with further chances from Blackburne, and Jon Moore putting a long range effort over the bar. Maldon were by no means out of it though and a header at Rob Blackburne from Lee Townrow, and a Michael Deane shot from the edge of the box late on showed their threat. Wallace could have added a second just before the break when he steered a shot wide of Madden, but the keeper got a hand to the ball pushing it behind.

Maldon came out looking for an equaliser and Ollie Berquez was unlucky to see his shot cannon off Dean Pennant. But in truth the second half centred on a penalty decision given against Maldon & Tiptree’s Ian Cousins for a foul on Kirby. After Stuart Blackburne converted the spot kick the visitors became completely distracted and it cost them dearly. Deane could have got a goal back shortly after the penalty but dragged his shot across the Enfield goal, but with six bookings in a short space of time, Maldon’s indiscipline allowed Enfield the advantage, and they made it count. Blackburne rode a challenge from Billy Burgess before squaring across Madden for Wallace to slam home from close range. It was just minutes later that substitute Leon Osei set up Dean Pennant for a fourth effectively killing the game. Freddie Ladapo caused a few problems after coming on, but it was not enough. The last action of the game saw Madden penalised for handling a backpass and Liam Hope firing a free kick into a crowded Maldon goal mouth from 10 yards.
