Margate v Lowestoft updates

Bury made Hastings look poor in a similar way to us making Lowestoft better than they are, though they still are a decent outfit. Not many teams will gift Lowestoft space, time,& chances like we did.

Bury didn't have to do much.

First goal - goalkeeping error.

Keeper than charges out of his goal and is lucky not to be punished.

Second goal - pathetic attempt at heading a crossfield ball results in goal.

Full back passes ball straight to Bury forward but he doesn't score.

Fourth goal - miskick by defender results in goal.

Fifth goal - starts with defender passing ball straight to Bury No. 3.

Not there so can't comment on specifics;and simply comment that wehilst on p[aper-putting corneille in midfield looks odd-no-one comments how he actually played-as i believe he has played in midfield at one of his previous clubs-and as previously posted-for me-midfield is the problem area.

Ok-seems like defence had shockers today-but generally they are ok-and for me-root of probplem is that whilst wilson, stubbs, avery are ok -they are not special-and certainly do not play as a unit.

It may be ok to play just 3 in midfield at home and against weaker sides-but surely CK has to question himself whether this is right away from hokm,e and against the better sides (lowestoft).

If we have no midfield control-the defence will constantly come under pressure.

If it can be afforded-a midfield leader/general would make a massive difference.

If it can't be afforded-fair dues and we will be about 12th-15th.

Get that midfield general -and we may just make top 8.

I think CK is right about assembling teams over a few seasons-Lowestoft have 'grown 'over 3 seasons.

Thats again why i think those predicting top 5 this year for Margate are delusional-it just won't happen.

i am hoping that CK can get this together in 2 as opposed to three seasons though-and remain content to settle at mid table this year.

If you arte goijng to loser-lose to a top 5 team -and lose heavily so you learn lessons.

Notts forset ,arsenal and tottenham all conceded 4 or more goals today-and they will all finish in their leagues top halves-so saturday was not a disaster.

I do hope though that somehow CK recognises the need for a midfield general/leader-and that board can afford that one additional signing (interesting that the crowd was 500 -no doubt that success brings in the crowds so it could be self funding.

Also i hope that CK recognises the need to be more selective of playing just 3 in midfield-we simply get over-run-it happened at wealdstone-and it seems-same again yesterday.

Those defensive errors would not occur if there was less pressure on defence by someone holding the ball up.

(and as someone else posts-well schulz has got to find a club somewhere )

Okay, then we have to capitalize on errors such as those tomorrow, should they arise.Trouble is,will we do similar?. I don't think we will tomorrow & we will return to form having learnt a hard lesson from Saturday. We know this team IS better than Saturday,IS better than last seasons.

The team that errors less tomorrow will win I guess (goes without saying I know), together with that, the team that want's it more will prevail.

COME ON MARGATE put things right. My monies down on you to do just that tomorrow.

Lets hope CK is pragmatic tomorrow and plays 4, 5 even in midfield and a singler striker.

Dominate the game-get posession and the goals will come and it relieves pressure on your defence.

Most goals come from set pieces anyway-so if we control the game, we will win enough free kicks and corners to get goals from set pieces.

Frankly-whilst wilson, stubbs avery are ok in midfield-no way are they good enough to control a game between the 3 of them-if you have'nt got absolute top quality-you need quantity.

Where on earth has CK got this idea of 3 in midfield from-its the ryman premiership;not the premiership that wolves played in

I think everyone knows a 4-3-3 becomes (or should become) a 4-5-1 when not in possession and the opponents are attacking where the 2 wingers must drop back.

Agreed that Wilson, Avery and Stubbs are not really capable of controlling the game from the midfield as a unit .

2 players that would be ideal From what I can remember from games against us- Shultz would be a good signing and could form a very good partnership with the highly impressive Pooley. Also Lee Minshall always looked good, aggressive and experienced at this level. Still at Tonbridge ?

Gonna predict a narrow win tomorrow with Cornelle in for Ball at right back

I can't comment on saturday as was not there-but certainly did not see much evidence of Bodkin and Appah performing 'defensive duties at wealdstone.

I don't think they are that type of player anyway.

Thus refer back to my view, that minimallly you need 4 proper miodfield players if you are going to have any semblance of success against any team that is half decent.

Maybe if we had all four of wilson, avery, stubbs and coleman iin there we may get a bit more control of central midfield

Should have bought on MC and CR a lot earlier, and moved DH and LB into mid-field at the expense of WW and DAN STUBBS, I'll say no more, cos i've said it before.
