Margate v Lowestoft updates

Never happy about losing-but if you are going to- lose early season and lose heavily-

that way you learn more-and not there-so can't comment-but it looks like CK will have learnt a lot today.

and if they have serious aspirations re: top 8-then the directorship will have learnt it needs more team investment (personally happy with top 14 position)

I am only guessing-but i expect to read that we were over run in central midfield.

Its how we bounce back-hastings also lost heavily-so who will bounce back the best on Monday ?

Thats where the managers earn their corn

I think we were by far the better team in the opening 20 minutes. Sitting in the stand I must say that i counted at least 5 accounts of pulling and pushing in the Lowestoft box. The ref was blowing up for that type of thing in midfield but did not have the bottle to blow up in the box. He had no consistancy and his linesmen lacked any bottle.

We were ok when playing the ball on the floor which is what we were doing for the first 20 but then we resorted to the long ball which their tall centre half dealt with and probably would have done all day.

Clearly this Margate team have alot of class and should have done better against Lowestoft but they ran out of ideas today.

No more results like that please!!!!

Up until scoring today we looked brilliant, Lowestoft hardly got a sniff and the team were firing on all cylinders.

After we scored we seemed to sit off them, although they did play significantly better after the wake up call. From then on everyone just went to sleep, the midfield got lost completely and the defence lost all shape. Every second ball was going to them and they found an easy ball over the top all too often.

I dont think we'll see a much better team at Hartsdown Park this season but it was a shame they played so poor after a great start.

The substitutions also seemed strange today: Corneille into centre mid and Curtis into a forward role. I know the game was lost but surely there were better options. On the subject of Curtis, surely has to be in for Monday.

Sums the game up for me too though I was asking for Curtis to come on before he did but at 2-1 down not at 3-1 down.Couldnt see anthing wrong with that one .

Taking both Bodkin & Appiah off was a strange one but to be honest neither of them were really affective on the day so maybe it WAS a right move.Bodkins goal was a super one but thereafter neither he or Appiah hardy ever threatened.

As above.First half hour we were really good.We scored when they were just getting on top & from there on we just fell apart really.Hoof & hope with us wining hardly any balls compared to them.

Finally...that bloody retreating to oncoming forwards. Arrrghh! I've said it again & I'll keep saying it! PLEASE DON'T DO IT!

Best side won in the end, without a doubt. No complaints about the scoreline. It's Just sad that once again we get 500 plus through the gate & we'll lose 200 of them next home game because of that dismal/pathetic last hour.

A lesson very much learned today & we now know just what we have to improve upon to be anywhere near to teams like Lowestoft.

Now the players must put things right & quickly,on Monday & I am fully expecting them to do just that. .

p.s. Anyone know where Burchall was.Not even on the bench. What a waste unless injured.

Agreed with NLP above, substitutions ridiculous..right back into centre mid and left back into attacking midfield.

Cloke didn't stop moaning and in my opinion gave up..don't think Cloke should be playing, have said this since last year..but CK wont drop captain.

Regards Burchell, not sure where he was, but to be fair at Wealdstone and against Aveley he just ran at players and has no end product..seems to panic when it comes to that crucial pass...however I think if he was played upfront on the last man he could be very effective.

Disappointed with Kewsi's selfish effort in first half, he should of squared it to Bodkin..

But oh well, no point dwelling, onwards and upwards!

Dont think they will win the league cos that little beauty is coming our way.....ok ok the dream has taken a bit of a dent and the thrashing Lowestoft dealt today was a wake up call for the boys. Our 2nd Goalie made loads of mistakes and simply fell apart in the second half, as for the rest of the team well imagination ran out as well as the motivation. CKs subs were....... to say the least baffling and bizarre, I have every respect for the fella but today we ran out of ideas and bang out of luck. Hastings will be a different game but we still need to go there and score a hatfull cos our guys need nurturing and the best way of getting over a defeat is to go and thrash the next team and a shedfull of goals to get the juices flowing for the next league game........ rant over.

Hastings lost 5-0 at Bury so i hope they don`t feel they need to make up for a dismal day for themselves . Whatever happened on the pitch today won`t happen to many times this season as the lads we`ve got now can cope with a fu.k up that happened today . They have only played half a dozen games as a unit and they will learn more from todays game than any other game they have played so far .

Having really enjoyed the game on Tuesday and busted a gut to get there today after work filled with excitement, obviously very disappointed with the performance and result. As people have already said, we started ok and got a great goal (possibly one of the best Margate home goals I have seen for a while- both lead up to and the finish). From that moment we seemed to stop playing and lowestoft started playing very well and deservedly went on to win comfortably. Once we went behind The most worrying thing for us I thought was that there wasnt one player that seemed to stand up and take hold of the game by keeping the ball and trying to play it around, instead choosing to kick it long without looking. I thought Ball at right back Looked very uncomfortable and shaky and will surely lose his place on Monday. Cloke as captain doesn't do much for me - moaning and groaning, falling over in the box at every corner/cross and didn't exactly sprint back after going up to attack. Pooley looks quality and could be partnered with Robinson? I think today was a reminder that we need to keep our feet on the ground, the team is a work in progress and while we look miles Better than the last few years and today won't happen too many times. as previously mentioned it's a shame it had to happen on a bank holiday with a good crowd of Over 500. A 4-1 win would have been better !!!!!!

F@£&*$g appalled at today's performance. Thats my opinion. I'm glad it happened today, as we have a chance to put it right. We were boss for the first 20 / 30 minutes, we could've been 4-1 up by then (not should) but had nothing after that. We were exposed as weak and one dimensional after that. Every single time from the kick off we hoofed it to the left as far was we could. not once did we gain any advantage from it. We were excellent today (early on) and Tuesday on the deck. Why try and gather snow? Come Nov / Dec / Jan we will struggle, as circumstances will dictate we have to play more and more in the air. We should and could have had three points from this. They shoud've been done for by half an hour.

I cant stand that ball from kick off..played back and hit diagnolly just to see the ball go out or the opposition win the header..

We done it last year, we are still doing it this year..

I used to do it when I was 10 playing sunday football..

Its getting boring now..

I know we arent in the premiership, I know its not even league football, its non league..but these long balls from kick off and in general are getting boring now

Certainly not worth a tenner. Call me stupid (thank you) but this is one of the few occasions being a yiddite comes in useful. We could've gone down 4-1 today applauding if we'd just played the ball along the floor...Not that I think it would've been 4-1, as we should've buried them inside 30 minutes, but there will be days that like that. However, there should be no excuse for the hour that followed.....

Echo what most have said, really. Good up until we scored, then it all went wrong. Lowestoft will be successful because they quickly work out the opposition's weakness and exploit it. We worked out their weakness pretty early: their defenders cannot cope with anything on the ground. And we got success playing that way early on, but then resorted to the long ball for some reason. Big lumbering centre backs (see their no 5) will mop that up all day

Very poor defensively today. Both full backs were too often caught out of position, panicked any time the ball came to them and just weren't mobile enough. Corneiile and Robinson in, please. And I'd certainly be making a few enquiries to the White side about a certain central defender they have on the transfer list. Exactly what this defence needs: a dominating centre-back who will take control. One of the goals (the third I believe), we had three chances to clear the ball before they eventually scored. That's just not acceptable.

Again, worrying that the midfield just went missing on numerous occasions. For me, the jury's still out on 4-3-3, especially against the stronger teams.

Got to bounce back on Monday.

Totally agree that we need to bounce back against Hastings but they suffered a huge defeat as well so they will also be looking to regain some pride. As regards the team well lets put itdown to a bad day at the office and move on as I think most will agree the boys in the hoops (lol) have a good few games to go yet before they become a "TEAM", Lowestoft showed why they will be up there come the end of the season but we wont I hope be far behind them. A blip in the road IMO and hope to be applauding the guys out next home game ...... Up THE GATE>> :)

Interesting highlights from Bury yesterday.

Also can you spot who the ref is in the match against Hendon?
