Your choice team to play against Fleet Town

Thought it would be novel to see what team fans would choose to play against Fleet, after the Burnham flop.

My team would be 3-5-2. Have to be this new keeper Warrington as I presume he is first choice.

My three centre halves would be Sweeney,Perkins and NBH

Wing-backs-on right Marsala,left Danny Murphy.

Midfield three of Coyne,Logie and Swift.

Forwards Sonner and Mpi.

Subs for this game would be Dennison,Martin,Burnell,Sinclair and Bateman.

I think those subs can make an impact whenever needed.

What do others think?

I have my reasons but what I say will only be seen as negative Ian!!!

Is this the, "we are lacking target man" thing? The fact that Sonner and Burnell have scored most of our goals so far (and did last season too) would suggest that we don't necessarily need a target man. Yes, perhaps we could have one to change things on occasions but you don't leave out your two top oalscorers just because you think you might need something else.

I think we have proved time and time again that our style of football doesnt warrant a target man. For set pieces we have our big centre backs who can score goals.

The issue I had was when we cam up against teams like Arlesey last year who were big strong defenders and didnt let us play, in these games we need more of a target up front and we can have that in Charlie Mpi

Therefore we DO NOT have a problem, Danny and Sean will get us 40 goals this year, no problem

my team 3.4.1.2 (3.5.2)

dennison/ warrington (personally don't know which is best as i have never seen either play)

sweeney logie NBH

marsala coyne martin murphy

sinclair

Mpi Sonner

subs: other keeper burnell swift sturgess coyle

I think that Mpi and Sonner would be destructive, both of them will chase down the defense, both can be target men, both are quick, and both will score goals.

If Mpi doesn't get much match time I can see him leaving as well as I reckon he could easily be a 20 goal season man.

Ian, they didn't look like scoring against Aylesbury. We had the chances to get 7 or 8 against Uxbridge, and got the grand total of 2. Against Burnham, the game could still be going now and neither of them would have scored. Yes it's wonderful when it works, but for us to get where we want to be, I don't believe it works well or often enough.

At the very least, let's give MPI a bit more match time and see how it goes.

It's not the target man thing at all, I just think Ben Abbey is more experienced and when I've seen him play his all round game is best we have.... Being a striker isn't all about scoring goals, holding the ball up is a massive part of the game and it's something we are poor at and put ourselves under unnecessary pressure, where did Burnham's 2nd goal stem from??? Giving the ball away and not playing the simple option in their box!!! I just think it should be Mpi and one of the 3, for me it would be Abbey!!!

Time will tell on this one, but my view is we do need a target man. I think our forward line is too small in stature, and when looked at over the whole season, when the pitches conditions worsen, I think this will be clearer to see. Still its all about opinions, someone will be right, and someone wrong, and a lot of water will flow under the bridge before we know for sure. Would like to see Mpi get more than 15 minutes though, and we need a home win today whatever the line up is.
