Cambridgeshire County FA Invitation Cup - 2011/2012

Recommended Posts

I see that Royston Town's continued involvement in the Hertfordshire Senior Cup has caused the postponement of their eagerly awaited Cambridgeshire County FA Invitation Cup tie against Cambridge City on Tuesday 24 January as they will now travel to Oxhey Jets that night.

I see that the big one (Royston Town v Cambridge City) is scheduled for Wednesday 25 January at Garden Walk, the day after Royston go to Oxhey Jets in the Herts Senior Cup. The Oxhey Jets tie is on Football Mitoo but not the Cambridgeshire County FA Invitation Cup one.

A report on this tie from another Forum:

Wisbech Town (0) 1 Haverhill Rovers (0) 0 - Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup - Admission £6 including 4 sided card prog - att 115

Match was postponed from tuesday due to a waterlogged pitch. Was still wet but flat so perfectly playable come wednesday.

No traffic probs so Warwick to Wisbech in just under 2 hours in rush hour wasn't at all bad.

For the 2nd evening in a row i saw a late home team goal secure a narrow victory.

Two much changed sides both hit the woodwork in the first period but after the break the visitors with the moderate wind behind them had most of the chances but found the home reserve keeper in fine form. Eventually a breakaway led to the winner.

New ground has two covered ends and seats on far side with standing in front of clubhouse on near side. 9/10ths of the pitch surround offers ample room but an oddity is caused by a bye-law which has meant that for the remaining 1/10th the terracing is reduced to single file only.

Mildenhall Town P Ely City

To be played on Tuesday 31 January, 7.45pm, it would be funny if Royston Town drew Mildenhall Town wouldn't it
