Chertsey and Southern League

Just as a matter of interest did Chertsey choose to go into the Southern League or were they just placed there? I would have thought that most clubs in the Combined Counties would prefer the Ryman Isthmian option. Although i must admit i thoroughly enjoyed watching Windsor in the Southern League.

Chertsey have less overall travelling in the Southern Central division than if they'd been placed in Ryman 1S. Anything west of Walton-on-Thames at step 4 is Southern League territory these days apart from Godalming and Bognor.
