Must say we were lucky to get a clean sheet, in the first half Aveley had a couple of decent chances including a cracker of a shot from outside the area which hit the bar. We had a better game in the first half and took a 2-0 lead into the break, even having a 'goal' disallowed. Was impressed by Appiah in particular, though Bradbrook worked hard if not as successfully.

In the send half we were pegged back a bit, but didn't look too threatened by what Aveley had to throw at us. The match looked like ending 2-0 when Wellsie announced Bradbrook as Sponsors MoM, he duly responded with a great goal a few minutes later.

CK looked 'at home' on the touchline and he & Jake kept up with the touchline advice throughout the game.

Bit of a scappy game for long periods I thought but our rearguard stood firm & performed well.We didnt see a great deal of flowing football but its 3 points. We will however face sterner opposition in the future without taking anything away from Aveley as they tried hard enough.

Some good goals especially the 2nd.

Keeper looked solid (for what he had to do) & Appiah & Bodkin looked good too.Ball in particular at full back, as did the entire defence, performed well.

Bradbrook got stuck in & worked better the more the game went on. Avery (not Aveley) was my m.o.t.m.

Was a little disappointed with Coleman on the night but I'm sure there's more in his locker than that.. I would prefer to see Burchall there rather than him I have to say.Just my opinion.

Wilson came on as sub and did very well.

The result at the end of the day is the most important thing & no-one can knock that but we will have to step up a gear from this in the future to be a major player. However,on the night a good nights work & well done the players.Further improvement will undoubtedly come.

If CK is going to continue with just 2 in central midfield (stubbs and coleman-and avery in front of back four -should wilson be starting ahead of coleman ?

I fear against stronger teams such as lowestoft-we will be outnumbered in midfield and for that game -should have 3 central across midfield-stubbs,wilson,coleman;with as ever-Avery in front of the back four.

Would mean resting either Appiah or Bradbrook; but we must get control of the game in midfield.

For Cookie-i think Burchell is a natural alternative to Bodkin-as is a 'flying winger' type-but don't really see him as a midfield player myself

Yes,you may be right there Michael in which case Wilson would get my nod for the midfield spot but I do like the way Burchall gives us another dimension & I would like to see his trickery out there, causing confusion amongst opponents defences, more often, rather than see him sitting on the bench.

p.s Is Robinson, our player of the year from last season,a player that has improved each year & a player we think can go onto better things... injured? (I'm fully aware that we can't play everyone at the one time)

I too thought there were more Steve but then again I always misjudge the attendance so no surprise I was wrong..again!

Was expecting a lot more for our first home game so am slightly disappointed. Even Whitstable got more than us last night.

COME ON CHAPS (& LADIES) TURN UP ON SATURDAY

..................................PLEASE!

Have to say I thought we fell into our old ways of playing the same game that the opposition adopt i.e hit and hoof for the first 30 or so minutes but when we "played" on the floor rather than header volleyball we looked dangerous Aveley played most of their best football in the midfield and the majority of their attacks in the first half were directed (high) to Ellis Remy, and we know what he can do ..... lol.

However last ten/fifteen minutes of the first half we seemed to gel as a team and this proved more so the case in second half. The defence became a unit and pushed forward when needed and held firm pretty much throughout. As for the MoM I think Tom shaded it as he seemed to get stronger and more confident throughout. My only worry would be that our defence stood off the guy that hit the screamer that hit our crossbar almost might have been a different result if they had scored then. Overall good result and the first win/3 points under our belt - 2 months time will show where we stand in this league but I really think the future is bright and blue and white hoops :)

Oooooooh, that really does annoy me when defenders back off from oncoming forwards. All they are doing by backing off is giving the opponent a bigger target to aim at. John Keister was a good example & a master of a player willing to stand up to these attacks & often he either came away with the ball or made an exceptional interception.

After a 3 - 0 win it would have been very easy for JL to say that the team put in a good performance last night. However, to come away from a game and to say that they were not entirely happy with the performance, and there is a lot of work to do , shows how far we have come. It was also nice to hear that players are fighting for a place and know that if they do not perform, they won't be selected to play. I aslo agree with DR about the "Hit and Hoof" that we seemed to play for a short time and how much better it was when we got it to feet.

Agree "Cookie" The only reason the Aveley guy hit the bar was the defence backed right off and gave him a ton of room. Must admit I have not been impressed with TB's body language preseason but, 2nd half last night he came into it more.

Went away well satified and Hoarse. We are a genuine work in progress that as a lot left in the developement bucket.

Can I ask 2 things though.

1) stop as someone said playing the other teams game.)

2) KA, Stay right .Devistating when he stayed there. Leave the left to Bodkin and the centre to the midfield.

Definatly "ONWARDS AND UPWARDS" know.
