Matt- Just to add to the point made earlier and even if the boys lost today in their game v Oxford I would feel the same, the great team that was " more solid and balanced"? Record after 5 games- P-5, W 1, D -3, L -1 F- 4 A- 7 Pts -6 Ring any bells other than the goals for column? And as for the sixth game, if memory serves right - as I was there, we lost 2-1 to Didcot?

The record doesnt quite agree really- but you gave the man a chance- didnt you?

Calamity Dave I personally viewed thefA cup run under Alf Coulton when we reached the 1st round proper a success; the promotion under Alan Davies was a Success; I also viewed the cup final under Alan Davies a success although we didn't win it; the FA Vase run under Alan Davies was also successful; the promotion under Byron Walton was a success in my opinion - many people regard that as their favourite season; the FA Trophy run under Dennis Greene and the promotion under Dennis Greene were also memorable successes. Just wanted to set the record straight on those successes because lots of hard work by some long serving Windsor & Eton stalwarts went into achieving those and should not disregarded. Also Keith and Jim were a significant reason for us winning the league and berks and berks cup but to say Scotty BUILT that side I think is incorrect many of those players he inherited from Simon Lane he most certainly got the best out of them and moulded them but the word built I feel is incorrect. What he is doing now at Windsor FC is building a team. Just my two cents!

Geggy- Fair points, apologies and taken on board but Simon lane built the league winning side?- I dont think so, he just claims he did. Bully ( KS) Wharton ( KS) Fagan ( KS) Butler ( SL) Parsons ( SL), Parsons (SL) Wilson ( KS) Seedel ( SL) Chandrihan ( SL) Chennels ( SL) Smith ( KS) Thomas ( KS ) Osubo ( KS) Jack ( KS) Dickens ( KS) D Woozley (KS) James Courtnage (KS) David |Pearce (KS) and Marcus Richardson ( KS) 13 from the Colonel! In addition whilst he did claim the credit on both, even if you accept it was his team- he couldnt do anything with them so effectively he was a good scout!

Calamity Dave apology accepted. My point was 6 out of the regular 11 were inherited from Simom Lane I did not say Simon built the team but that what Keith and Jim are doing now is 'building' a team because they've started from nothing. When we won the league he inherited a number of the key players added to them and moulded them to achieve the success for which deserve huge credit.

We’ve been lucky to have had lots of good seasons which have been memorable for various reasons.

Good shout about the 00/01 season under Byron. That team had no stand out players apart from possibly Chuck Agadosi but were a tight knit unit and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat so many times. A great bunch of lads too.

Also the 95/96 season under Alan Davies where he halted a slide of 3 successive relegations by getting us promoted and going on that long Vase run. Another side with great team spirit, coming back from 4-1 down with 10 minutes to go to beat Folkestone 5-4 being a prime example.

Obviously recently the side that won promotion from the S/W division was a exceptionally talented side. I doubt we’re ever see Windsor side go 32 league games undefeated again, they also played some great football.

Likewise the side the Mudge & Byron put together last season punched well above its weight. Beating the likes of Leamington & Brackley with their huge resources was a great achievement and will live long in the memory. It’s a shame the season was curtailed early as most of us thought it was shaping up to be a very special season.
