Referee v wealdstone on saturday -michael webb

Not that anybody particularly cares, but as i have a feeling i may refer back to this post in about 2 years time;i deemed it worthy of its own post and i simply comment that i thought the referee was excellent on saturday.

I think he and his team got every decision right-including the bookings on both sides

 

He was helped by 'good behaviour' from both sides and both managers;-but equally -referee contributed to that by making the right decisions and not trying to be centre of attention.

 

Similar to the players-it was only one game-but if that referee performs like that (with his team of assistants ) and again-similar to players-wants to progress up the pyramid-imo he has every chance of doing so.

Fully agree, he was very good, the fact that us Gate fans only got upset with 'one' decision all game (and that was the lino's offside flag in the the second half) shows he had a good game. When the ref goes un-noticed or not talked about then you know he has done his job well.

Funny enough I said that to the Wealdstone people in the Press box - a very good referee.

As Mark said if the game finishes and the ref is not talked about then he has had a good game. What we do not want in this league is a Graham Poll type ref who thinks that he is the centre of attention. Sadly we have seen over the last couple of years one Rymans ref who has ruined games by his inability to control things
