FA Cup Draw

Thanks Ian. In spite of the crappy way you have been treated by Canvey Island FC, nice to see you posting on here and letting the fans know what is going on.

Once upon a time we would have had the whole of the draw on the Canveyfc website, with Matt digging up background information on Dover and a link to their website ( Click here - old habits die hard )

Happy days <img src="/images/graemlins/achso.gif" alt="" />

No problem - I saw that only 321 went to the FA Cup game against Uxbridge - shame to see the crowds down at Park Lane. Especially for a team that is at the top of their division.

Good luck against Dover - shame I am not allowed to be there to record the games on camera.

I know what you mean Canv - I copied one of their post and have added it at the end of this, I bet the rest of our Division would go potty if they read it:

Q from Dover Forum::

We have a chance. The one thing that I am certain of is the fact that the teams they(Canvey) hammer week in week out are far inferior to Dr Martens sides so it might be a culture shock for them to have a competetive match.

That said, will still be a massive ask and a good test for us. We certainly cannot make the silly defensive errors as they will definately be punished by Boylan and Gooden. At least it is just down the road ;o)

End of::

Most of us at Dover believe that away at Canvey is the toughest draw we could have got at this stage of the competition, especially given your record this season. The posting you have quoted is a bit dismissive of Ryman teams, but that's not the necessarily general feeling here. We've been knocked out of cups by enough Ryman teams in the last 10 years to know better. I think the author of that particular post is basing his opinion of the Ryman League on our games against Ford, Basingstoke and Maidenhead in the last year, none of whom have been the least bit impressive. No doubt it will be a different story at Canvey.

We're going into this tie as the underdogs after our poor start but we know we are capable of playing well and we know we will have to in order to get the result we want.

See you on the 11th.

Should be a good game this one. Dover were in the Conference a couple of seasons ago and currently are hardly setting the Doc Martens alight. Our record against Doc Martens teams is pretty impressive as well. Over the years we've beaten the likes of Halesowen, Grantham, Cambridge City and Stafford Rangers and I think we can certainly beat Dover. Also have got quite a bit of support so hopefully should be a decent crowd.
