Although he had re-signed for the Rams, Jack Smelt will now be crossing the island to Hartsdown Park.

Margate put a 7-day approach in for Jack yesterday but, just in case he was tempted by more money or a higher league, Wardie sensibly agreed they could speak to him immediately. Very sensible as it turns out, as we now have a week to consider our options rather than a day.

Nice lad and I'm sure we all wish him the best, unless we play them in a cup of course.

I am quite ashamed but when the best team in thanet are away I sometimes go and watch the other half.

I saw Jack smelt last year and he looked very good great shot stopper and I think his dad and uncle played for the gate.

Great signing IMO, didn't put a foot wrong in Whitstable game, including a cracking penalty save low to his right. I reckon CK has another gem there.
