I think most of us appreciate the necissity of a smaller budget and squad-but confess that even i anticipated a squad of maybe 16/17 players.

 

Would rather have 15 of quality just the same.

 

If smelt replaces stone; thats back to 14 i believe.

 

If CK is struggling to sign the fifteenth (burchall) thats one heck of a small squad (must admint i am ambivalent to burchall ) that will be a real, real challenge for CK- mid table would be like swimming the ocean.

Not normally a problem-but with currently no reserve players to note and step up in emergency--our squad size must make life really diffcult.

 

Get Jake out there today-give him 60 minutes as he ois going to be needed as a player as well as coach

You only seem to be talking about contracted players, as I understand it there are always others not contracted to the club but playing on a week to week basis, that would obviously increase the squad numbers

To the best of my limited knowledge, no -reason why contracts need to be for 12/24/46 months.

Maybe CK may give the likes of groombridge a short term contract for 3 months, to slightly bolster the squad; and allow club and player to contniue to 'have a look at eah other' and prove their worth , where maybe there is an element of uncertainty;and neither party is making a massive commitment-financially or otherwise.

It also bolstens the numbers until November by which time you have played well over one third of the seasons fixtures;and you know if you have any spare cash from cup runs-or whether we have made the traditional early exits and money becomes even tighter.

My point is you do not have to be contracted to play for club just registered
