Folkestone v Margate Updates

Apparently a sort of 4-5-1 formation with Avery and Coleman deepest in midfield of 5 and Bodkin and Burchall wide.

Burchall headed goal correctly disallowed.

My source says that there was a cheeky flick by Bodkin on the right and Burchall scored at the second attempt after his first shot was parried by the keeper.

I think the report on the game pretty much sums things up.

Second chance for me to see the team in action & 1st half was very impressed. Bodkin showed how classy he is and Burchall both shone in that half plus & the presence of Bradbroke made life very hard for the Folkestone rearguard. He has adjusted very well to this league & is improving all the time.Defence look solid too. A very comfortable lead at half-time & well deserved.

2nd half no so much one way traffic as a few substitutions including loss of Bradbrooke & Birchall left us with fewer chances & less penetration despite still scoring two decent goals.

Late surge from Folkestone with our defence switching off i.m.o. which allowed the scoreline to flatter Folkestone somewhat.

Another lesson learnt last night that its a 90 minute game not an 85 minute one.

Impressed by Bodkin,Bradbrooke,Ashley Groombridge,Pooley but not so by Whyte on the night. Liked the look of him on my first viewing but last night didn't really get into the game to impress.

A good all round performance all told but we need to see how we fare against sterner opposition & unfortunately the 1st league game will be our first real chance to see how good we are.

Still got some work to do to be a major threat in the league i.m.o but we have a much younger squad,a more athletic bunch of players & some skillful individuals in the side this season & as of now we are playing some good football. Its very encouraging.
