Croydon v RPV

Recommended Posts

You really are damned if you do and damed if you don't with Smudge (unless of course it's his opinion or actions)!

What would you be saying if players were caught up in anything tomorrow on the way to/from the game, if it had gone ahead? You would no doubt blame the league for not doing the right thing!!

Correct decision by the league and clubs involved.

Jurgs, dear chap.Croydon v R.P.V. is hardly an International or Carling Cup game, where a large Police presence is required.Should all people who work in Croydon not bother going to work, due to what's going on.Lets hope it does not hit Woking, then would you advise not going there either. You are getting on my nerves a bit

Irrespective of how big the game is, the clubs and league are entitled to ensure the safety of their players etc (or are they not in your eyes). If this means them not having to travel through, or to a place where rioting is happening then the correct decision has been made, end of.

I'm sure there are many businesses that are in potential areas of unrest who will be closing early or sending people home to ensure their safety (many on the advise of the police).

Couldn't care less if I am TBH. Makes a change for the boot to be on the other foot for once dance%20(2).gif

Right, I am gonna bite, and I don't care lol. Smudge you are a first class idiot. It's nothing to do with the football, it's to do with the safety and well being of Human people, that have families/kids etc. Which, believe it or not, is much more important than football !! Would you allow a member of your family, son, daughter etc travel through Croydon tonight for a game of football, I don't think so.

M.T.No I would not if I thought they were in any danger,Croydon's Management have cancelled tonight's Training for similar reasons,Whyteleafe have cancelled their Friendly Tonight for similar reasons. But cancelling a game 2 days in

advance is ludicrous in my opinion.Seems though that I am in a minority of 1,which it appears lately to many posters I am.Maybe I should take a step back.

We have cancelled training this evening at Bedfont as we have a number of players in the team who live in Croydon and although getting to training will be fine getting home safetly may be another matter. Also have a number of lads who come by public transport through London. Finally also had reports from players that local town centre's are shut up with trouble brewing with gangs collecting. Even if it's a quiet night it's the right decision as far as I'm concerned, even with our season starting this Saturday.

Totally the correct decision to cancel the RPV game.

I work in Sutton, top of the High Sgtreet, and went for a walk all the way down the hill at lunch time.

It looked normal until you noticed that at 1.30pm half the shops were shuttered closed andthere were police already milling around.

Our office building, 5 companies over 8 floors kicked us all out at 3.45pm on Police advice. I left at 3pm after seeing loads of Polcie and a fire engine go towards the High Street

Not sure I would have wanted to go to Croydon for a football game - it isn't that important in the big scheme of things.

Smudgeyboy scenario, okay the game proceeds to go ahead tonight. The rioters decide to attack and petrol bomb your beloved 'Arena', just think about it, you have no idea where and what these rioters will/would do next. How would you feel if that happened ? Don't say it wouldn't happen 'cos you don't know if it would or would not !

Every possibility has to be considered, perhaps you could tell the players parents that the their son is caught up in the riots at Croydon...... well you can always then say it's the leagues fault !!! Get real man..........

Nice Guy,I would never want anyone to come to harm,as you well know no one likes going to the Arena at the best of times anyway. But being local to the area,I do not see a problem.Must say though that the Police who have done a brave and Courageous job over the last few days, must have poor intelligence. What do thugs/robbers never do,steal or rob on there own patch,I happen to live in an Area where there is a well known chavy gang, nothing has been damaged in that area.Likewise Sth Norwood and Large Areas surrounding the Arena have been untouched for similar reasons.Mitcham likewise, and areas like Purley,Selsdon,Whyteleafe,Kenley, have not been affected in a big way, reason the Majority of the people doing these wicked things would stand out like a sore thumb in those areas.
