UK Riots!!

Recommended Posts

Terrible scenes yesterday (Saturday) in Tottenham High Road, a stones throw from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Serious questions need to be asked about how the Police handled the peaceful protest outside the Police Station during the afternoon which triggered the riot, following Mark Duggan's death in nearby Tottenham Hale last Thursday evening after the minicab he was travelling in was stopped and he was 'executed' as was described by a local resident:

What happened over the weekend was nothing more than mindless vandalism carried out by criminal yobs, ands its a miracle that innocent police officers, or innocent members of the public weren't killed. With regards to Mark Duggan, he was rumoured to have been carrying a gun, and if true he probably deserved to be shot. Until a proper public enquiry has been carried out into the shooting of Mark Duggan there's no excuse whatsoever in protesting outside the police station, as the protesters must have known that it would trigger more violence.

There's obviously a problem in areas were there's a higher than average population of black youths, and until the politicians stop being so PC the situation will only get worse. The big problem with that is, it will cost tens of millions of pounds, and as usual the really deserving people will be neglected.

Missunderstood - I was talking to a good friend of mine yesterday who is a former cafe owner on Bruce Grove, a stones throw from where the riots took place. He knew Mark Duggan very well and said that he was a good, honest, law abiding family man who wouldn't hurt a fly so how he came to be unceremoniously

'executed' by the Police last Thursday in the way he was is a bit of a mystery to say the least.

apparantly he may not of been carrying a gun,at least it is thought he didn't fire one.Saying that,he was a known gangster but as he was nice to his mum its obviously a terrible tradegy!!!The minute the immigration population or the highly strung ones realise that this is about the most tolerant country in the world and a country where you do and will have great opportunities and a damn site better than the places they have escaped from then it will become a better place for them to live, problem is we have let so many scumbags into this country, many are just trouble makers with blood on their hands.I would hate to think how many murderers and journey criminals we have let into this country in the last 10 years.

Its not only the trouble makers with blood on their hands that are the problem. There's far to many people of all races and cultures, including Brits born and bred, who never work or pay tax or NI, and expect everyone else to feed, clothe and house them because they see it as their human right. My eldest son lives and works in Singapore, which is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world, and if he or any other immigrant commits a crime its a possible long prison sentence followed by instant deportation, and if he loses his job he has a month to find another one or his out on his ear. Perhaps if we took a similar hard line our country would be a much better place.

It looks as if it has all been kicking off in Hackney today according to these Forums, the Police don't seem to be lifting a finger and one was quoted as saying "we are damned if we do and damned if we don't" following the Tottenham riot whatever that's supposed to mean:

Fairly clear! If they steam in they will be criticised. If they stay out of the way, they will be criticised.

I think we have to wake up,this has been coming a long time and it's about time we stopped pussy footed around with the youth and some of those old enough to know better. We need to get out of Europe and start taking control of our own country instead of being governed for far too long by countries who don't have anywhere like the problems we have. It's the fault of various governments, not just the one now (although law and order seems to have got worse in the 90's under labour).

It costs £38'000 per annum to lock someone up,why?? Because we pamper to the scums human rights, for some reason, face facts, half of these idiots don't want to be reformed, they are happy spreading violence, thinking they live in ghettos when 95% of them really don't have that bad a deal. This can be the end of this country or it can be the start of it's resurgence, enough is enough but those in power need to be strong enough to sort it out.Time for the troops to be pulled out of everyone elses mess,,the army to be downgraded somewhat and the police to be bolstered by recruits from the army.

According to official figures it actually costs an average £47,000 to keep someone in prison, although I would imagine it costs far more than that to keep subhuman scum like paedophiles and child murderers, because they need extra protection and their (sub) humans rights have to be adhered to. Don't quite understand why you think law and order got worse under labour in the 90s as they didn't take power until May 97.

IMO prisons need to be a deterrent to re-offending, and anyone not British born and bred should be deported on release, with no right of appeal whatsoever.

Er 97 is the 90's

Let's face it Blair introducing the human rights act hasn't helped, still it got his missus a nice little number though, seem to remember she made a nice bit of bunce out of it all

Labour was in power for just under three years in the nineties, and the Tories just over seven, and the crime figures dropped in the latter part of that decade. The warmonger Blair didn't introduce the human rights act, but it was amended slightly on the instructions of Europe. I'm sure Mrs Blair has been made far more money out of the act than any soldiers family received in compensation for the loss of a loved one fighting Blair's illegal war. A fact I believe to be immoral.

The HRA contains some clauses that are good for all of us, and by and large protects us, but IMO those rights shouldn't be extended to prisoners, who should lose all rights until they have payed their dept to society.

Where are you living at the moment Rhodesy, Wood Green still or Highbury as your profile indicates. Went through Wood Green on Sunday morning and it was a bit of a mess with the w*nkers still trying to get into shops etc.

Highbury and Islington areas seem largely unaffected so far. Was on Holloway Road last night and all quiet.

NeutralFan - I'm pretty much between the two places at the moment, my eldest daughters boyfriend works at JJB Sports in Wood Green High Road but that was completely cleaned out and trashed at the weekend so he's not sure whether he will have a job anymore. Like I said earlier today in a post to Horace, which you didn't put up, the Police haven't lifted a finger so far but hopefully David Cameron's return from holiday this morning to Chair the COBRA Committee will have the desired effect.

I see that Mark Duggan's funeral finally took place yesterday with mourners packing the New Testament Church of God in Wood Green to the rafters with almost as many standing outside on the pavement. A horse drawn hearse passed slowly along the streets from Duggan's home in Tottenham via the Broadwater Farm Estate, where Duggan grew up, to the Church in Wood Green where tears flowed like rivers during the 90 minute service, Duggan's cousin Donna Martin told the congregation in a moving obituary of his difficult upbringing when at the age of 13 he moved to Manchester to live with an aunt before later moving back to London. Duggan's girlfriend Semone Wilson gave a heartfelt obituary through her sister and echoed everyone's feelings when saying 'i don't understand why you've gone so soon'. RIP.
