Hope all goes well tomorrow, would love Knappers to go over there and pick up all 3 pts but just can't see it,I'm going for Guernsey to win 5-0!! The Guernsey crew seem just a bit too cocky for me, I'm sure they will do well at home but do think they will struggle playing away.

Yes good luck knaphill enjoy the day, im sure many of your players will never play in front of as many supporters/fans again so just enjoy the moment.

Guernsey are a good side and will not struggle to get promoted.

Such an intriguing game!! Knappers get it forward very quickly and have forwards in Baker, Hogston and Cardona who can all play at a higher level...perhaps higher than the Premier. Guernsey will have have to high quality defenders to stop them. IMO playing youth teams like Bristol City and Reserve teams in pre-season,who are coached to keep the ball ,build from the back, and will lack the physicality of what Guernsey will have experienced ,could well with prove not to be the best pre season prepartion for CCL1.....time will tell!

Guernsey obviously have massive talent and if they keep the ball can cause the Knappers some big problems and take the game away from the visitors.

I`m sure someone will get a video and we can all see very soon!

Find it Interesting those who know Div 1 well think this will be closer than those commenting from Premier Clubs and only Premier experience. (this is perhaps for another thread but I doubt whether any side in the bottom 10 of last seasons Premier would have won Div 1...the evidence is there!)

Knappers have been very quiet this pre-season and that bodes well and i`m going with Woking Hopper for an upset and the Knappers to win!.... Not a negative post all you Guernseyites before you jump on me...after all my knowledge is as much as yours when it comes to the opposition! Good luck to both teams in what is the biggest and most coverted game in CCL1 for many years!!!!

As I have not seen any of the other teams in the CC league is the very reason I'm keeping quiet on how GFC may or may not do. Personally I don't think over the season GFC will have it quite as easy as some think, that's just football.

The Knaphill boys arrived with no problems and I believe are resting up at the hotel! Good luck to all the lads and I would love nothing more than to see a win for the away side. Going against my original prediction and with inmyday/Woking

Hopper and going for a Knaphill win!

Whilst I'm proud that a lot of people are tipping us (Guernsey) to do well, I have to say I am slightly surprised at just how many have us pencilled in for promotion. I was lucky enough to play some Kent county league whilst at Uni and it was very competitive. There were a lot of very good experienced players around who had played in all manner of levels of the game, and I think its going to take half a season for what looks a young Guernsey squad to learn and adapt.

If the Combined Counties league is as strong as I suspect then I do think we will find it a steep learning curve playing week in, week out, travelling to games etc, and developing as a club. It is all very different to leaving home an hour before kick-off and being in the changing room a mere 10 minutes later, like we are all used to on our little island. Many people being a part of a club that they played for since they were under 11, familiar faces at home and away grounds. All in all a very safe and comfortable environment to play football.

Having said that, in the last 6-10 years the tournament experience at the Island Games, and the great run in the FA regional stuff last year does mean that our current crop of players, whilst they may generally be young, are probably more experienced and cohesive than would have been the case previously.

I do see that in some matches a fast start, pace on the ball and where we actually take a couple of our chances then we may well score a few goals and win a few matches well. I do find myself wondering if we quite have the presence to deal with more direct styles. I do beleive we will rise to the challenge. I do beleive the Donkeys will get behind them. I know I will. Its 15 years since I was lucky enough to put a green shirt on, and boy do I wish I had the chance to do it all over again.

I hope every side has a great time, but a terrible result when they visit. I hope you excuse any teething problems, and get to see Guernsey for what it is. A fairly simple island, a bit pricey, but a place that few who spend any time there would want to change.

Reckon the plane may crash on the way over :-)

Let's just hope none of our wives, girlfriends and children read this pathetic post Mr David Johnson. If you have children you should be ashamed of yourself! Take a look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the question would you want that said about you and club and teammates?

Some good reading there. I'm certainly not counting my chickens yet. I'm sure we will have plenty of tough games to come particularly away. Equalily I'm sure we will thrash many sides at home.

Its going to be a long tough season and a learning curve but ultimately after seeing our first competitive game I'm sure we will be good enough to finnish in the top 3 and gain promotion.
