Well Said Steve Bateman

Recommended Posts

Whilst I fully agree that Steve Bateman had a right to respond to criticism on the forum thats what he did do and imo that was the correct place to do so. Our forum is a small forum with maybe a few dozen regular contributors and some more casual readers Whatever is said good or bad it remains within the forum community. I dont think its sensible to take essentially forum business to the local and national media( non league daily) because thats a two way street Take forum business to the press and that invites responses to the press which will be read by many thousands thats not a good thing imo..

BFR and Sue Im sure both of you could be spot on. However, whenever a journalist ask you a question you can always decline to comment and of course if you are misquoted you can ask for a correction/retraction. If any of the more vitriolic exchanges on our forum recently had found their way into the local media it could have caused a lot of damage at a time when we really need the support of the local community regarding the proposed new ground.

I agree with what you are saying Irishadrian but the difference is we are not in the football league I suppose it is acceptable for a manager to air his views in the local press about supporters, we're not big time after all!!!

Even though it was aimed at me, Steve has a right to say what he did because of the level we play at, I doubt many VIP's read the sport section of the Express so it's hardly bad press, if anything it may have even had a positive effect, the headline stood out!!!

Thought we played ok Saturday at Thame for some reason, maybe I liked seeing us line up with Brown, NBH and Woozely in a 3-5-2 too much, ok we struggled to pass the ball like we can but it is more of a battle at our level, especially against teams of a lower stature!!! Roll on Saturday, and 3 points on the board....

I'm really not sure RR... I'm really intrigued to see how we line up!!!

Just a shame NBH arrived so late in pre-season, 3-5-2 hasn't really been given a chance and following my earlier comments regarding Alex Brown, he has come on leaps and bounds and it will be a shame if he is the one to miss out, I just can't see NBH or Woozely being on the bench... The biggest headache is the midfield, lots of talent there and a few will be disappointed!!!

SB's headache as who to play in midfield on Saturday might be eased by some players not being fit.

Paul Coyne was at the Thame game and was doing some a pre match warm up but didn't appear in the match.

Also Stuart Swift appeared to be limping a bit when substituted at Chesham and didn't make an appearance at Thame.
