Saffron Walden Town, who were formed 1872 in have resigned from the Eastern Counties League Division One.

 

A brief statement on the Ridgeons League site reads....

 

"Saffron Walden Town Football Club have informed the competition that in view of various developments in recent weeks their financial situation means that they cannot guarantee to complete the season in the Ridgeons League and they have decided to withdraw now rather than possibly disrupt the league by having to resign during the season.

 

The club intends to attempt to resolve various issues in order to consolidate its financial position over the next months with a view to applying to rejoin the Ridgeons League for the 2012-13 season."
