Cocky/Quiet

Recommended Posts

It's been interesting this pre-season. I've been to about 15 pre-season friendlies, most of which have featured CCL sides so I've seen a few things. Then on here you have some sides giving it large, others apparently having a mare and some keeping very quiet.

So here's a question. For each/either league, who do you think is boasting a bit too much? Who is hiding their light under a bushel and who is keeping very very quiet and waiting to strike?

As we never have any posts from Wembley,C.B Hounslow,South Kilburn,Worcester Park (1)Bookham,Hartley Wintney,I would say that they are quiet.Knaphill have gone into their shells, which is first for them, even though they have had the services of the Woking Fire Service in watering their pitch.Talking of Fireman,Darren Watson's signing for Banstead could be significant,if duty never calls, but on past records it will.Guernsey on the other hand have had a torrid pre-season,2 losses against Men,a thumping victory against a bunch of kids.Dorking are riding on a crest of a wave, well it's got B.J.R. excited anyway. As for gobby ones, there will never ever be anyone like THE GATE,he was a classic. But with Tuck's involvement at Lammas, and the recent signing of Pretty Boy Brunty, add in Redrup 2(he fell over),there is sure to be some banter from that neck of the woods.Windsor posters started off giving it large, but have realised the error of their ways. But my biggest worry for this Forum,is it seems we have lost,my best friend and yours NICE GUY,has he been stranded in Turkey, lost overboard in the English Channel,or emigrated to Timbucktoo,or not paid his Internet Bill.COME BACK NICE GUY WE MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The place will never be the same again.

Ive also heard hartley are putting out a very strong team this season and have put up good games against higher league clubs so watch out

and guernsey have been all over here being in my views cocky and very defensive about there club but from pre-season results they don't seem to be this runaway team that they portrayed themselves as. still a skeptic

Smudge u may miss him but i shore don't, his banter can be a laugh but maybe on his retreat he will learn how to reign it in a little. O and he should stop hiding in trees because otherwise we will have to lock up the children, and the ......

What's the point of hiding your light under a bushel ?

Surely, it defeats the object.

I heard Hartley Wintney have £600 a week budget. If true then that's absolutely ludicrous in this standard of football.

However with the players we have acquired pre season and the buzz thats around the Lammas, I am hoping and thinking that we will be pushing hard this season for promotion.

But this is the CCL Div 1 and you just never know.

Spelthorne will do ok this year ... My tip is ( sorry for this by the way ) Hanworth Villa to surprise a few in the prem and Lammas in div 1.

You really can be a prize plonker at times Smudge !

We haven't had a torrid pre season at all !

We beat a very talented by all accounts Bristol City Academy side 6-0

We Lost to a League 2 side ( AFC Wimbledon ) 6-5

We Lost Away to Horley with a servely weakend side with even more changes in the 2nd half. We also had a 16 year old keeper in goal.

We are luring you all into a false sense of security. When the serious stuff starts we will show our true colours and show we are a top 3 side.

Re the GFC results, as I have posted on another thread, I don't think you can read anything into them.

A positive spin the Bristol City result for example would be the fact that the same side beat Street, who finished 5th in the Western Premier Division (i.e. Step 5) last season, 1-0 prior to playing Guernsey. A negative spin would be that they were all youngsters.

A positive spin on the AFC Wimbledon result would be the fact that 3 of their players who started were on the bench for the Crawley game, and that Marcus Gayle commented after the game that Guernsey looked like a Step 4 side. A negative spin is that Guernsey conceded some very sloppy goals, and again were playing against youngsters.

A positive spin on the Horley game is that neutral observers commented that Guernsey played like a Ryman side at times, and that it terms of pure match stats (i.e. possession, shots on goal etc) were the better side. A negative spin is that 3 sloppy goals were conceded due to poor defending, and that numerous chances were wasted in front of goal.

I can't wait to see the table after 10 games or so, which will give a much more accurate picture of the strengths of all of the teams

Thought the Young Keeper did exceedingly well, and could not be blamed for any of the Horley Goals. His distribution was good, his kicking excellent, and a good talker.Hope he does not read your post,as you may of put him off for Life, not his fault that the people in front of him ,underperformed. As for being a PRIZE PLONKER,at least it got you to post a reply, which is what this Forum is about.May you post many more times.

I didn't say anything negative about out young keeper I merely pointed out we had a young inexperienced keeper playing. In fact I believe he is a brilliant future prospect and I've heard he has had a trial with QPR. So I don't think my comment quote "we also had a 16 year old keeper in goal" will put him off at all lol !

He can;t be blamed for any of the goals because he didn't come on until we were already 3-1 down. From what I understand he only played the last 20 minutes.
