Took in the Eversley v Ash game tonight really just to see what Ash had to offer as had heard some good things about them during the summer.......but as the previous post stated, this could have been 6, 7, 8 nil to Eversley who I must say looked excellent, very impressed with the quality that the cockney mafia have put together. They looked fitter, sharper, hungrier that Ash all over the pitch and if it hadn't been for their keeper, who was by far their best player, this would gave been a rout for the division 1 outfit!!

Not sure if this was Ash's strongest team; I would assume not going by this performance. If it was then they may well struggle this year as they simply couldn't cope with the pace and movement of the Eversley attack, led by the physical prescebce of Ray Spence who looks in great shape and will give most defences a torrid tome this season. Also the Eversley left back has to be one of the quickest players I have ever seen, shame he had to go off injured in the 1st half with what looked like a hamstring pull.

On this showing I would definitely put Eversley up there as serious contenders for promotion and IF they can keep their key players free of injury then they may well push Guernsey for top spot! Ash on the other hand are in for a long hard season unless things chafe quickly.

Game wasn't played on the main Eversley pitch but walked over to take a look at half time, looking fantastic I must say, gotta be one of the best surfaces in the division, and probably better than most premier division pitches.

Dorking 5-1 Southwick.

Strange game in which the ref played a total of 13 minutes injury time over the two halves, when about 5 would have been expected! Southwick took the lead with the softest of goals from a free kick. No-one in the Dorking wall or the keeper were ready and the guy just rolled it into the net. Leroy Hyett equalised through a penalty given for handball and almost scored a worldy after twisting and turning and just shooting over from 15 yards. Dufelll had one cleared off the line before putting Chicks 2-1 up. A miskicked clearance from the Southwick keeper arrived at the feet of Duffell 25 yards out and he lobbed it over the keeper first time. Late in the first half, a Southwick forward burst clear and the pretend lino (not Smudge!) raised his flag. Ref waved play on leaving him one on one with McBride and he amazingly hit his effort wide.

Half time (at 52:19!), which thankfully only lasted about 8 minutes.

Wholesale changes for Chicks at HT and initially Southwick pressed for the equaliser. However, a fine finish from Tyrone Oliver increased Chicks lead. Not sure who got the next goal, which I thought had gone over the bar (as did most of the crowd!). For the final goal going into injury time, the ball pinballed around the box and there must have been about 6 or 7 efforts at goal before Martin Smith's effort finally nestled in the bottom corner of the net. 51 minutes gone into the second half and he finally blew!

See my post added to Bucks post.

Yep Eversley were much the better side & deserved the win. & good luck to Eversley

What i could tell we had a mixture of trialist & first teamers when they all finally turned up due to the early kick-off. At the moment it does look like it will be a hard season ahead but everyone at the club is behind bonzo & know what he's been going through trying to attract players to the club.

However we've had great pre-season before & then struggled so hopefully having an in different pre-season we may have a good season

AUPostie

What happened at Eversley

Read the comments from Chubby Brown, was it that bad or was there another reason.

Maybe you put a few ressies in ?

Didn't see much of Eversley last season so difficult for me to compare squads and players, but on this showing and speaking to a few people in the know there has been big changes and can only assume this is the result of Savage and Andy Clements taking over. They looked good all over the park and apparently they had 2 or 3 missing as well.

Being fairly local I'm keen to see them in action this season - they have Guernsey at home third game in so that will definitely be one to watch!!

Appreciate its only pre season so there's only so much we can read into results, etc. We all know how long and hard the season can be.

Yeah it is. He is hot headed thats what i meant about keeping him available.

Thats what happened when he played for Hartley a couple of seasons back , he got sent off a few times and lost interest and didnt play for 3 months.

Im sure if he stayed we would have won the league that year.

Ripped teams apart tho when he was playing and on his game.

another player playing way below his level !

your doing the opposite...:brille008:
