GUERNSEY STEP UP SECURITY.

Smudge

Recommended Posts

Not because of railings behind the Goal,as Smudge raised on an earlier thread, but because to many FREELOADERS WERE GAINING ACCESS before the gates were open. Money rules o.k.Also been brought to my attention that when I visit Guernsey and I will, that there is nowhere at the Ground, that I can purchase a tipple.IS THIS TRUE?But 6 parking spaces have been arranged at the Holiday Inn, Gatwick.which is a plus for away teams ENTOURAGE.A plus surely?

It's easy to get into Footes Lane without using the official channels which is a concern but it's mainly young kids jumping over a small wall that is the issue. The end result is the club might miss out on £10 per game (entrance is £1 for U16's) but i guess it's the principle of the matter.

I understand the intention is for there to be a bar operating on matchdays but not sure if this will be in place for the Knaphill game.

Another negative thread about GFC. why should they not make sure everyone pays? I'm sure this happens at most grounds in the UK?

Just a bit peed it's always one poster...  The point I was making is why say GFC is all about money? Surely all clubs try and make sure fans pay to see a match?

I have skin like a rhino. Don't really expect GFC to play that many leagues higher.

How is this a negative thread about Guernsey,Trebor said it was mainly youngsters gaining free entry.Youngsters u/16 are not admitted to most Non League Grounds in England, unless accompanied by an Adult--reason they have been known to cause Trouble. If my remarks about Supporters not being able to purchase a drink at a Ground, offend you and is negative about Guernsey. Was a marquee not erected for your game against A.F.C. Wimbledon, but stopped by the Island Officials, planning wise?Having a drink at a game is part of the Football experience, and where snippets of information are gleaned by me at least.Of course you have a Board room for the elite, but you are in with the big boys now,all who have Clubhouses, which is a rule of entry to the League,I Think?

I never commented about licensing as i have no knowledge of it, have seen no coverage in the local media about, hence know nothing.

Hopefully our youngsters behave better..... Always been the case in guernsey that youngsters are allowed into matches provided they behave.

FA Ground Grading requirement Smudge

1.5 Clubhouse

There must be a clubhouse facility either on or adjacent to the ground, which should be open on

match days to provide refreshments to spectators.

Smudge, this is negativity regarding guernsey once again.I have been to over 250 non league grounds, and probably only on a handful of times have any kids not been allowed in because they were not accompanied by an adult ,if any.

As for clubhouses, you do not actually need one,as long as you have somewhere to sell refreshments, then that's fine, doesn't have to be alcoholic ones either

As far as DFC is concerned, youngsters, 11 and under ARE admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

As far as un-accompanied juniors is concerned, it really is up to the discretion of our gate staff. To be honest, I haven't had a major problem with un-accompanied youngsters in the ground, and always found them to be polite and accomodating to rules.

Guernsey, MIGHT have a problem if promoted to Prem on ground-grading over the 'low-wall' issue.

Guernsey charge £5 for under 16's to sit in their stand, the same price as adults,£1 to stand.

Is it not up to clubs to charge what they like? I have been to non league grounds in the UK and paid twice what GFC are charging and for a worse stadium.

Guernsey has a higher cost of living so generally speaking most things are more expensive.

UK clubs do not need ro shell out a six figure sum on travel either.

To complain about charging £1 for children when it is only likely to effect locals does show how petty and negative some posters are about GFC.

I am sure there will be problems on Saturday, but that will be the same for any new club, remember GFC have never played a competitive match. But they do have some very experienced people running the show and like just about everyone else in the UK do all of this for the love of the game.

People in non-league do make me laugh Karen, your damned if you do ,damned if you dont.Just say you have 2 young children and live in Guernsey, you want to support your local C.C.L. side play at Step 6 in the pyramid. But if you want the best seats in the house you have to pay £15 for the priviledge.Do not know any other Club at that level who charge that level of Entrance Fee for U/16s,it is outrageous and will frighten many Guernsey Fans away.Maybe they should of taken me on as an Adviser, the cost is not Community Friendly for a Community Club. And no discount for Senior Citizens either,a mistake in my opinion, but not many others on here it seems agree.

Smudge, you make some valid points, prices will always be argued by someone no matter what level of football you watch.

I'm sure that given time Guernsey will find their feet in the higher level and possibly adjust accordingly. Having seen that recent article about prices on the BBC website at a higher level (£4 for a pie at Arsenal - where do they get them from Harrods?). It has prompted me to e-mail all clubs in the Spartan South Midlands League to see if I can produce something similar (watch their forum for developments).
