Ian Reid

Sadly, I have been informed today that Ian Reid, who played for STFC back in the 70's passed away last Monday following a long illness.

His family have asked that I pass this sad news on. If anyone has contact with players from his era, could you either pass the news on, or point me in their direction.

I have passed the clubs condolences on to the family, as I know many will have been saddened to hear this news.

Ian will be remembered as a first rate footballer, sportsman and club man who sometimes willingly played out of his normal full back position for the good of the team. For those of us who were fortunate to have seen most of the games he played for Slough, his name will always be amongst the first put down for any all-time favourite Slough Town team.

RIP

Have to agree, certainly the best right back to play for Slough, would be in anyone's ( who saw him play ) all time Slough list, Such a vast difference between non league ( amateurs ) players of that era and of now, most of the really top players could have made the pro ranks-but a lot had better day jobs so was not financially worth it.
