Basildon United 1 Runwell 2,good match from what i saw of it, Bees played some good football, thanks to the echo for previewing the match in fridays paper and shame on the Basildon populace for not turning out in greater numbers.10 paying spectators and most of them{not Hookey or young crossy} wanted to fight me for a fiver.

the old two farts who turned up and on being told its £3 only to reply 'we're not coming here again' too fecking right you're not,if you do come back you can shove your £6.

other highlights included remarks of the nature 'why do we have to pay?','i havent got any money on me' and 'im only going to watch ten minutes'.

would you go to the local cinema and ask for free admission as 'youre only going to watch 10 minutes of the movie?' didnt cover the refs fees with the gate money but a big thank you to the refs and players who stayed behind for a drink Cheers.

Due to domestic commitments (Bloody Garden Centres) I only got there 10 minutes Before HT. I suppose I could have sat in the car park until HT and sneaked in for the 2nd half but it's only a bleedin' fiver, less than the price of two bottles of Bud. I even left 15 mins before then to pick the missus up.

It was good to see 3 x match officials, not just a couple of subs running the line, so obviously their costs had to be covered.

As for the game, I don't think you can read too much into the result, both sides made the anticipated multiple changes and Runwell probably had as many, if not more, ESL experienced players in their side than Bas Utd did. e.g. Jamie Clarke, Brad Davey & Dean Neil.

Good luck to both clubs for the forthcoming season.

Cheers Hookey, not sure if players like clarke and neil will be regulars for Runwell though, away to Maldon st marys on tuesday then the real action starts against Barkingside who appear to have a few interesting signings.
