Spelthorne Sports

NLN was speaking to a knowledgable person at the horley game wednesday night. He knows a bit about this division and reckons they will be right up there at the end of season. Could be all talk but dont think any team can be taken lightly this season.

Spelthorne Sports 4 - 2 Bedfont Town XI

As promised, Spelthorne were well organised with Simmo using his experience well at the back although he will be caught out by any pace up top, as will a few of the other guys who looked a touch on the heavy side. They had some decent pace down the flanks, the Right side in particular but lacked the composure in these areas at times. Up top they have Jamie Read who was with us 5 seasons ago in the Prem and looked sharp, think he scored at least 2 and a guy coming back from injury that could be a handful when fit. Reckon they will finish inside the top 10.

Was it trialists gp?

I don't want to take anything away from SS but yes, we gave every starter from Thursday's match the day off and took the opportunity to look at some of the Capital squad and a couple that are looking to secure a spot in the squad. Our First Team skipper featured (second half sub), in midfield, and we had enough up top to have done better so it was a good exercise and i'm sure the management team learnt a bit about some of the lads.

Staines Town on Tuesday, will see you at the 'shed end'?

Paceless,Unfit,Overweight.

Not quite how I put it Smudge but a couple were carrying some timber, however they were decent players that make up for it in other areas. And as I said, they had good pace down the flanks which will help them get at other teams in div 1, and their front two will score goals, I wish them all the best.

hi watched the game myself and have watched spelthorne on a number of occasions. dont think you can give a true account of spelthorne on 1 match, so thought i would help. yes simmo looks like he can be vunerable to pace, but the times iv seen him play against pace he always comes up on top and leads the team very well. spelthorne play decent football and with jamie read and lee staples looking like they will lead the line up top i feel they can really push for top 6.another key is they posess alot of pace in there team,im excited to see how they will do. good luck spelthorne.
