Town 0 Carshalton 1 (pen)

Recommended Posts

Gutted.....Town should have been at least two up at half-time..instead because of a VERY dubious penalty just before the break, and lady-luck deserting us, we inexplicably went in, one down.

We continued to apply pressure in the second half ,but it wasn't to be.....Every Town player was on top form, whilst Carshalton seemed to be having a BIG off-day....only they ,and the ref, know how they come away with the win....They certainly troubled us LESS at the back, than any ESL team has this season.i think it bodes well for the rest of the season,in the fact they we out-passed,and out-controlled,a team second in the Ryman premier.

0 – 1 We lost but we won! Crowd 501

When I arrived at the ground this morning I saw a lone magpie and looked desperately for a second without luck. An so it was today Carshalton Athletic had all the luck. But I had a lump in my eye and a tear in my throat as I watch the town OUTPLAY yes I said outplay the Ryman Premier leaders.

In the 42nd minute the ref gave a penalty for a supposed foul that Carshalton were embarassed to get. At half-time an official from Carshalton Athletic commented that he was surprised to be going in with a one goal lead as we had clearly been the better team. Simon Miller and Kevin Riley didn’t just play their hearts out they were on target and causing the less han impressive keeper to make mistakes. The pressure was on

The second half was much more “even steven”. Town were still very much in it and both Simon Miller and Keke St. Hillaire forced top quality saves from the keeping and players on the line. very much NO not overawed. We lost but the manner we lost but the manner we lost you’d have thought we won and Carshalton lost. Both Simon Miller and Keke St Hillaire showboating round Carshalton defenders and leaving them for dead.

So we lost but we were AWESOME and I’m proud to be a townie. The best performance after the Harrow Borough win. You can’t single out a player and say they were top man they all played their hearts out and gave everything!

A superb performance by Enfield Town - how we did not score at least ONE goal I'll never know. The Carshalton penalty was extremely dodgy. Our passing was excellent at times, our movement was smooth, but Carshalton seemed to jam EVERYTHING. It simply wasn't meant to be today - lady luck was nowhere to be seen.

If anyone there didn't already know, they would have thought we were the Ryman Prem team. Well done to the players, and to Jim and his staff.

If Keke's measured shot had gone in near the end, the crowd roar would have taken the roof off - if we had one!

Couldn't really see the pen incident from my end, but it seems to be one of those things. Sometimes they'e given, sometimes they're not. Remember Sawbridgeworth a couple of weeks ago?

Yep, proud to be a Towner. Moral victory. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Surprised to note that no one has singled out giving praise solely to the defence. From what I saw they played very well, probably the best all season and I hope that they carry on playing that way until next May.

Well done to all concerned yesterday. It was great to see so many Enfield people watching the game and I hope that those floating supporters liked what they saw and will come back for more.

Here's looking forward to the next two home games, especially against EFC next Tuesday.

I've only just got into the office but here's my two pennies worth. We should have been tow up by half time and on the basis of the second half should have won three nil. Their penalty (??!!**) was caused by us giving too much space to their no.9 (the short geezer) who was very quick. It was good to see that we closed him down in the second half. Looking forward to getting back into league action.
