Jacko released?!?!

Recommended Posts

Just heard Jacko has left the club...

Sad to see him go, true Rebel!!!

I guess that means we'll sign the lad who played on Saturday in addition to Fanner. Real shame if Jacko has left. The word legend is thrown about too much but he definitely fits into that category where Slough Town is concerned.

Would appear to be true judging by comments on his twitter page. True legend. In my time only comparable to Trevor Bunting, who was also messed around over the years. Both were locals, and both cared.

That's the thing.......if you ever had to describe what sets players like Jacko (and Wilko and Steve Daly) apart from the others it's because they really cared.Good luck, Jacko. Alfie will be properly gutted.

Have to admit I was surprised he was at the club at the start of pre-season as the indications from himself were that he was going to leave/retired. Or at least it seemed that way. A shame he got injured at the end of last season as he would have been Slough's number 1 for the run in.

A quality goalkeeper on his day and I won't forget the crucial saves he made at Romulus and the save he made at Hitchin (on his Twitter background) in the play-off semi 2 seasons ago. It would be great to think that after all the time at his club starting out from trainee to reserves and first team that one day he might come back to the club to help the youth set up in a coaching capacity.

Double shame for me not only will I miss Jacko but also wont get to see so much of his lovely son, who helps me out in the club shop, one of the most delightful well mannered little boys I have ever met.

Good luck Jacko and thanks for everything so sorry to see you go.

Sue and Aidan.

Jacko is a Slough Town legend without doubt. His best performance is hard to say - I remember one in particular against Bishop Cleeve back in the dark days of 2008 - 3 outstanding saves earned us a point - but at the time it was as if he was the only one on the pitch who cared. Good luck Jacko and hopefully will be back at the club in various capacities soon and who knows maybe as a player again. Never say never!

one of the all time legends of Slough and his love and dedication to the club is outstanding

best of luck to him

hopefully the fans take to Smith though and that there isnt an air of resentment towards him. hopefully he proves to be a consistent top drawer performer although in fairness Charlie Fanner has a good shout of being #1 if not this season then long term in the future
