Slough 1-1 Welling

Good FA Cup match which was very enjoyable (apart from the last ten minutes).

I personally thought we deserved to win the match. Spencer put us ahead and Boot, Miller and Howard had other opportunities, but could not take them.

We surprisingly dominated possesion, when I thought the higher level team may have more than that.

The equaliser maybe should have been a foul on Ant Howard, but I spose these things even themselves out at the end of the season and the result stands.

The only thing on concern was a few 'Slough fans' getting a bit hot under the collar at the end which is getting to be a bit of a problem like at Hemel last year. That was the only thing that really disappointed me...

I couldn`t stay til the end, so I didn`t see what happened with the Slough fans. I can assure you that the referees performance today was the worst from any official I have seen for along time, and there have been some bad ones. How he didn`t give a foul for a blatant shove on Anthony Howard would have wound up any fan. I am still angry now as we dominated the game today and the lads gave everything they had and one incompetent person ruined it for them

Mind you, he was incompetent throughout and allowed pulling and pushing for both sides go all through the game, but that single decision essentially cost us the tie. It gave Welling a huge boost and lifted their game accordingly. Made for an exciting final 10-15 minutes with some real end to end stuff but that single decision has cost us a few thousand pounds in bonus money and I'm still p!ssed off about it now.

I'm very pissed off. Unbelievably so. We dominated a side above us in the pyramid, should have scored 3 or 4, were first to every ball and played some lovely football, but then commit one mistake at the back, and they're back in the FA Cup hat.

I thought it was a clear foul, but that's football! I think we have the same referee for Tuesday. We have nothing to be frightened of Tueday though.

On thing I will say though is it still worries me about our strength in depth. The last ten minutes Hodges, Miller and Spencer all looked absolutely shattered, but there were no subs - no disrespect, but I don't think we have strong enough subs apart from Harris who should have come on for a tired Spencer at the end in my opinion...

If Dom was right, then Harris had a groin strain and might not have been able to participate. I think he would have been the preferred option for the Boot role rather than Hyatt, who is still yet to fulfil the potential he has. Great vision, great bloke, nowhere near fit enough.

Mind you, we had them on the rack and were all over them for the majority of the first half and most of the second until the inept refereeing decision nearly cost us the match.

We were fantastic today. I am very proud of the team. To be honest we were all over them and for the first time this season carved out chance after chance. The only downside was the failure to convert some more of those chances. We should have buried them in the first half. I am gutted but feel that we should have the confidence to do the same again tuesday.

The ref was woeful. I suspect he has been involved in rugby because there were an awful lot of hands on challenges allowed today. He missed everything. Unfortunately, I believe we will have the same halfwit on Tuesday. Having said that if the ref wasn't bad today I would have had no one to have a go at and I need that.

Does anyone know if it is Alex Haddow's personal choice not to play cup games or have Aldershot asked for that? If it is the latter fine if not we should let him go because he is not interested in benefiting the club.

Boll*cks to Haddow. Steer had a good game today down the left single handedly as he didn't have much in the way of support. If Haddow can't be bothered to commit to us, then why should we bother with him? His form's been patchy, never really shown much consistency, let him rot in Aldershot reserves I say.

i thought that today we looked better playing 4-3-3, and Hyatt coming on killed all our momentum. We totally outclassed Welling today, and it should have been 3-0 at half time but how much of that was down to the shortened warm up Welling had. second half and hodges should have got his foot to that low free kick, but it's very encouraging for tuesday, and we should get the result right this time

Screw the ref, if the boys play like they did today against a disappointing Welling side, then we should win. Come on you Rebels.

Yeah but unfortunately the ref cost us a one-nil win today and our performance sadly has no impact on his. Still he could not have cost us the game if only we had got a crucial second when we were well on top.........

Fiar play to Slough, by far the better team- Welling were very disappointing. With regards to the Ref, as usual in the lower leagues, absolute rubbish. Good luck on Tuesday, altough I hope we will see an improved Welling side

Well and truely gutted !!

If it had been a boxing match it would have been stopped !!! at Half Time

Anyhow if we play as good Tusday we are in with a good chance..but will they play as bad ???? doubt it, bad news Tony Boot out for 3 weeks ! so I was told....Gutted...play well today and synical tackle from behind ruined our day, as when he went off we started getting edgey and even without the referee not giving that un fair challenge on Anthony Howard , poor Foster had it covered until a cruel deflection....

Good luck Slough for Tuesday...I can't make it either.....sob sob sob....

But well played !! we deserved the win.....

but that's cup football......

cheers Chris

up the Rebels...... <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
