Easy victory in the FA Cup today. First half goals from Midgley, Boylan, Kevin Dobinson and Neil Gregory gave Canvey a commanding 4-0 lead at half time.

 

We took our foot off the pedal a little in the second half and allowed Uxbridge back into it. Mark Nicholls missed a penalty but Mark Royal scored with a header to make the score 4-1.

 

Uxbridge had a man sent off for a second booking and further goals from sub Ty Gooden and Lee Boylan completed an impressive victory.

 

Very, very easy today but this was a potential banana skin so credit to the team for keeping focused and producing a good solid performance.

 

Into Monday's draw for the 3rd QR. Burnham Ramblers away please!!!

Bit concerned that both Wardy and Smith were missing at the back but Gavin tidied up very well today.

 

Although the overal result would not of been in doubt, good save by Potter which would of made it 1-1 and maybe ran things a bit closer if things hadn't gone our way.

 

Nice to see the applause for Duffers as he walked off after some of the comments made last year when his season was affected by injuries and operations.

 

Would of liked to have seen Bennett come on and JK resume his best role on the right.

 

Good performance though and with Wardy, Smith and Macdougald to come in, things hopefully will be even better in defence with more of a punch of a punch up front , but who do you play? Nice dilemma to have!

No such luck as the brave minnows of Burnham Ramblers (all under 20) went out 1-3 to a very competent and mature outfit called St Margaretsbury from the Sp S Midland League in front of 205 on Carnival Day. I can honestly say though - St M would not live for five minutes against the power of the Gulls so that's the draw you want !

Nice win. And still top of the league? You never know, you may be drawn away to G&NFC!!

 

Remember that pre-season friendly? Well, forget it now, we're unrecognisable from the side we put out then. Oh yes, next season we will be playing the Gulls in Conference Division 1. Keep it up, boys!!
