Horley Town v Guernsey F.C. Wed.27th July.

@HTFC supporter - thanks for the link, what a terrific photo shoot. Think some of the Guernsey boys might want to order some of them!

Looks like it was an excellent night and a good advert for football at this level. Delighted to hear that Guernsey were so well received and made a good impression on and off the pitch. So it seems that they might not walk it after all for those who predicted it was a mere formality, though by the sounds of it, they showed a lot of quality that I'm sure will make them genuine promotion contenders.

I, like many of you I'm sure, can't wait for the serious stuff to get started.

Just got back to Guernsey after an enjoyable trip to Horley. Many, many thanks to Horley for their hospitality we had a great night! I am disappointed at the final score but being realistic after a lot of thought I am pleased with how our second half side played as there will only be 2 or 3 of them who will definitely start against Knaphill. Yes they conceded 3 goals but I think we can safely say that we do have some depth in our squad. A good night of learning for everyone.

Totally agree that the defeat was worth more to you last night than a win donkey. Very impressed with your attacking play and at time your full backs looked sold and pushed on well. My only criticism is what i posted after watching the afc game is that your central defensive pairings whoever they have been look vunerable to the long ball and set pieces. Footballing wise no one could argue that you play attractive football and if you would have taken some me your chances last night it may have been a different story. Sort that defence out and promotion is a possibility.

Thought the number 7 for Guernsey on the right wing first half looked really good and a lot of their best work went via him.

Mr A Jupp at the back had a good game as did the keeper.

Thanks for your kind words of praise bomaya.

Got to be honest I feel very stiff today!!

Thought you were solid even when up against their lively forwards in the first half. Their goal came from the left side, not sure if you got anywhere near him before he curled it in. Great finish though. I expect Ali would have liked him closed down a bit sooner.

I dont know about sooner!! I think Ali would have liked him to have been closed down full stop.Lol!

An entertaining evening, I thought that they lacked a bit of pace at the back especially the left back, who whilst comfortable on the ball was beaten for pace several times. All in all I thought they played some nice stuff, and as someone else earlier stated a bit like Arsenal, no cutting edge. I think that their problem is that they have not played together much and come October/ November when they have had time to gel they will be a very tidy side.

where do you get the idea they have not played together long or gelled from?? This team has (most of them anyway) represented England at international level..... http://news.bbc.co.u...all/9027854.stm

From the fact that they are made up all the teams on the island, like a representative side if you like. If the CCL put out a side, it would no doubt play better if they played and trained together all the time rather than if they were thrown toegether for one match,
