Have London Tigers cut links with Kingsbury?

Recommended Posts

I noticed that the Kingsbury name has been dropped so have London Tigers cut all ties with Kingsbury and moved away from Silver Jubille Park, or have they finally dropped the name Kingsbury which is something they tried to do a few season's ago but were not allowed.

Ok, I've found out they have moved to Pervale to play at Viking Sports FC ground. So does this mean that there will be no football at Silver Jubilee Park, and this move and the dropping of the name 'Kingsbury' has finally killed of the club that gave them a home in the first place?

If that's the case it's very sad as its another, along with Hendon and Edgware club lost in the local area, ok Hendon are still going but only in name they are not the same club they were that played at Claremont road.

Perhaps they could look into a move into Silver Jubilee Park, it would need some upgrading, but I''m sure that Hendon fans would be happy to play closer to home than at Wembley FC in Sudbury.

What a shame that the people behind Edgware Town and Kingsbury Town couldn't have more foresight and bring the two club's together.

When Edgware were disolved, KLT were already up and running for a couple of seasons, but their intentions were plain to see from the start that they wanted nothing to do with the Kingsbury name and the old gurard at the club.

They tried to drop the name Kingbury but the league wouldn't allow them, now by moving away from Kingsbury they have finally got their wish, albeit it means ground sharing with another club when they had SJP to themselves.

What league do Viking Sports play in as I can't find anything about them online.

I see they won the league, but not sign of them in Div 3 for the new season...is this a Saturday or a Sunday league? Didn't they used to be a lot higher up the pyrimid, around step 6 or 7?

As far as im aware Viking Sports dont play at the old Viking Sports FC ground anymore so the London Tigers should have the ground to themselves. I think Viking Sports play park football these days.

Im happy London Tigers are playing there because it is a easy to get to away game for me

As far as I'm aware, it was more to do with Kingsbury (owners of the ground) wanting the football club to move than the football club wanting to move. The football club were happy where they were but the ground owners were very unresponsive to help the club stay. This has been actually building up for a couple of years now and I'm surprised that the football club stayed that long there.

For the whole past four seasons that the club was run by London Tigers, London Tigers has to provide all resources as they didn't get a penny or assistance from Kingsbury such as bar revenue. It just came to a stage where the partnership did not exisit between Kingsbury and London Tigers, so now that they have been virtually kicked out of Kingsbury, London Tigers decided there no need to keep the Kingsbury name and will promote their own identity of their chairty.

Many believe, that Kingbury have plans for possibly another team to come in the future and thats why they were clearly unhelpful for the football club to stay. So presently QPR Ladies Reserves will be the main tenents and Silver Jubliee Park.

I was unaware that QPR played their ladies team at Kingsbury, how long have they been playing there for? It appears then that I jumped the gun somewhat in saying that SJP was going to be closed, as far as I was aware the ground is owned by Brent council who leased it to Kingsbury to play football.

You appear to be ''in th know' at Kingsbury or perhaps your involved with London Tigers, it's interesting you mention that 'Kingsbury have plans for possibly another team to play on the ground'

I wonder if we could see a re formation of Kingsbury Town FC or would it be a case of a club who are currently ground sharing and looking for a home, outside of their own borough?

It would be a real waste if the ground was closed as the funcition room alone brings in revenue, with many birthday's weddings etc being held there, and anyone who attened matches there know the staff were very friendly and the lady who ran the club supplied sandwiches and hot food for everyone for FREE !!!!

I guess, its a case of 'Watch this space' then....

I hope that ground doesn't close it is a real nice ground where I started out my playing career in this country, As was stated the bar is a little dated however is a big facility and im sure makes good money from parties and other such functions. New team to start up next year under the original name would be good.

Hanwell Town v London Tigers - Tuesday 23rd August :excited:

Savagebee - Do you think it is going to put a few more on the gate at Reynolds Field, it's only one stop on the Central Line isn't it

The ground had a lot of money spent on it in recent seasons to clean it up as well as making the playing surface a lot better then it used to be.

The clubouse brings in the most revenue with parties / functions behind held there, the staff were always very friendly and the lady who ran the function room would supply free sandwiches and hot sausages and roast potatoes as half time refreshment !!!!

It would great to see Kingsbury Town FC back, if they did where would they have to start on the pryimid as I doubt they would be excepted stratight back into the SSMFL Premier

Maybe im not sure as there supporters are not from the same area as there new ground im guessing they all still live in the Kingsbury area but if the London Tigers are playing at home when Hanwell Town are at home we could lose a few on the gate.

Savagebee - LATO lives in nearby Northolt so hopefully he will add to the gate this season either at Reynolds Field or the Viking Sports Ground, it will more likely be at a midweek game though as he has a Saturday job
