I like Dan in midfield but think he had his best games for us when he played at left wing-back, only problem he had was his final ball with his left foot. Always thought that could be easily sorted by putting him at right wing-back - if we play CK's traditional 5 at the back Dan's certainly got the energy and ability to be a major success there.

Welcome back Derek, wondered when you would make an anti Dan comment, believe you are in minority though. For your information Maidstone did want him if you check out their forum but Dan wants to play at a higher level which nobody can blame him.

I totally disagree for me Stubbs has a good engine and is a ball winner some of the players on display the weekend were good going forward but defensively were lacking.

 

Get behind Dan and stop being negative !!

Sorry if I appear negative, but I've stated my opinion, he has played in a team that has been in the relegation zone more times than enough, has left the club more than once, I think we need to move on with players who are better and show more loyalty than he has.

Exactly Michael, Derek is making asumptions on something he knows nothing about. If he cared to take the time to chat to the players he may be more the wiser and not so hard on what he says re Dan and others.

Yes but wayne wilson is a class miles above, although DS runs about and puts lots of efort in , he is NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY FOR A MARGATE TEAM WHO WE ALL WANT TO PROGRESS.

That was Chris Smalling. He is contractually obliged to play for us this season, as an ex-stones player - we haven't had our turn yet. Sir Alex missed the small print after a litre or two of mateus rose that Kp had sent on.

Chris Smalling left a decent team (Fulham) to play for an outfit which is so much in debt it breaches every footballing rule and should be thrown out of the FA. Plus the fact they are an arrogant bunch whose fan base is either Maylaysia or Surrey!!!!

Interesting to see the debate about Stubbsy here. He quickly became a firm favourite with us, by all accounts he was up for staying with us this year, but his opinion on his value didn't match ours and that was that.

 

As for his position, for Maidstone he played as an attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1, it certainly suited him to have the free role to attack as he pleased. That said I can see how he would thrive as a wing back in a 352 with his work rate. I think for his own good he needs to stick around with you guys for a while and not keep changing clubs all the time.

Good player and very versatile. However he really struggled with a bad back last year so we never saw the best of him.
