Takeley 1 - 8 Brentwood

 

My first visit to Takeley ever and have to say I was well impressed with the ground. Arguably best ESL ground Ive seen , and ive heard Don is putting a cover over one whole side of the ground aswell. Pitch was in superb condition.

 

We played 2 different 11's for both halves. We were 4-0 up at half time , that was the half I played in , and Takeley kept on most of their players for the second half , and they looked knackered by the end , the scoreline of 8-1 could in reality have been 12 or 13 by the end.

 

Good workout for us. Takeley had threats in their side, but to me it just seemed that a few players wanted a few too many touches on the ball and they were getting caught.

'Appy days, glad to hear that the pitch is in good condition - we are playing over there in the FA Cup on 20th August. Not quite the away game jolly we was after but nice to play on a decent pitch and set up - probably an even contest too.

 

Awesome scoreline for you boys Trenks, I hear you boys are targeting promotion with a few signings.

we have a big squad JJ but in all honesty i dont think we are in the top 4/5 when it comes to budgets. Maldon are paying through the nose ( i know of a player who turned down a Ryman Prem club who offered him £160 a week and a goal bonus to go there) , Harlow arent shy when it comes to money and Leiston have been splashing money to get to the Ryman so i doubt they will stop now , add Grays to the mix , whose striker they signed from Maldon told Maldon that he is on £230 a week there and you have teams there who have far and away more money than us. we used 22 the other night and have 7 or 8 missing so its going to be tough to get a place in the squad, for instance including me we have 9 centre midfielders !!!

 

Our goals were scored by Me , Dean Green 2 , Emmanuel Osei, Sos Yao, Joe Gardner and Ryan Edgar 2 . There was even a missed pen for us too .

JJ , the pitch was superb. Grass was a bit long which is expected , but the rain before kick off meant the ball zipped around nicely .

Only see the last 20 min as I was training the res but from what I see and what I heard from our first team manager I think they will be very very close to winning it some of the players they had were different class bute shows u what paying good money can get u our boys need to take it on chin and learn from it,

Gooner , Tommo pulled his calf muscle about 3-4 sessions in and has been injured since mate

 

You doing a full year this year JJ ? Feel fit ?

Full year is the aim mate, pre season is hard but I need it more than anyone. Missed last year pre-travel and injured the year before.....I just want one last full season of doing myself justice - will re-asses next year.

 

Gets harder each year dont it mate ha ha, breaks my heart when the 20/21 year olds say "Core, pre season gets harder as were getting older" - cheeky feckers, have 14 years of boozing, burgers and lads trips and then try running up steps or eating sand lol
