Make your your secretary is aware of the player eligibility rules in the Premier Cup Molly. There aren't restrictions on first teams but to play for the reserves in it every player must have played more or the same amount of games for the reserves than the first team in the current season.

I'm not saying you'll be playing ringers but it's possible you may have someone who's usually a first-teamer playing for your ressies at the time of the games who may not be eligible. This rule has caught a few teams out over the years.

As you're new to having your ressies in the Premier Cup I just thought I'd point that out. Farnham have probably played in it before so they should be aware of how it works.

It was the same for our reserves in the intermediate cup last year.

Interesting to see AFC Wimbledon amongst the fixtures, I would have thought that their reserves and squad players will represent them. But would they when they play Tooting who have won this cup on 9 occasions.

What do you think TRS and Jertzee about AFC ?

Can't see anything other than ressies/fringe 1st teamers to be honest, NG. Been that way for a year or two now. I hear we aren't in the London Senior Cup this year.

I didn't realise the Intermediate Cup had the same rules but thinking about it they must have.

Oh well.

TRS do you think its got something to do about being in the Football League as to why they aren't in the London Senior Cup, having bigger Cup to attend too ?

Must be county surely. It may have changed these days but every team had to enter the county cup in the past and were automatically included when they affiliated each year with the county. If they refused to play in it they got fined. One of our old secretaries who'd previously worked for Surrey FA once said he always smiled when writing out the fine for Crystal Palace as he was a Chelsea supporter. Palace paid it every year though so fair play to them. I think it was £100 and that was back in the 70's.

AFC not entering the London Senior Cup is a strange one as well as they're affiliated to London FA, not Surrey. If they were going to pull out of one I would have thought it would have been Surrey. Maybe they realise ours is the better county cup to play in!

No, they don't. I work for Middlesex FA and the only draws that have been made have been for the Senior, Charity and Saturday Premier Cups. MCFA have a policy of giving clubs every chance of entering the County Cups so make the draws for all except the senior competitions as late as possible, which I know gives Whitelaw some grief, but does help those clubs who struggle to get through each summer.

  • 2 weeks later...

On the Windsor forum there's this:

Berks and Bucks Senior Cup

Windsor v Shrivenham

Q/Final. Winners of above home to Newport Pagnell

S/Final. Winners of above away to either Sandhust Town, Flackwell Heath, Abingdon Town or Bracknell Town.

Can't see anything on the FA site but I guess Sandhurst know who they have as well. Any other CCL teams in there?
