Margate vs Welling Utd

VERY impressed today! well done lads!

For what its worth my thoughts are:

Back 4 for me would be ball, cloke, robinson and pooley - although we didnt do great last year I still think we have an awesome defence! one of the best in the league!

I liked the two wingers in the first half (not sure of their names (was one Bodkin?)

For centre midfield I think the two in 2nd Half looked good together, wilson and james whyte - 2 lovely balls by Whyte to play strikers in and wilson looked very good just sitting in the centre of midfield whilst whyte moved on to support up top - The young lad Whyte also didnt stop running back and forth.

The two strikers in the first half looked very good - Appiam looked lively and got his goal and also the other striker (was it Marsh??) looked good too - the only problem was they are both a bit smaller which is fine but we cant be knocking long balls up to them

I know 1 game means nothing but the leagues dont lie, welling are a mid table conference south team and we outplayed them all game!

From doing some research seen that Appiam played at Peterborough, Adam Marsh has played at Leyton Orient and James Whyte has played Brentford reserves, they all seem like they would be great additions to the squad..

ok that was a bit of an essay but I was so impressed with today I had to write my thoughts down!lol

Don't get carried away GA I thought Welling were poor. If that is close to their final squad I think they will have a difficult season in conference south. In saying that I thought our defence in both halves was solid and seemed to have good understanding. Thought right back in first half looked promising getting forward and seemed to have pace. Midfield in first half looked more creative but the worry for me is up front. Not sure I saw enough to suggest that we have solved our forward line up.

Footage of yesterday shot by a Welling fan.

I read on the official site that there is video analysis from 'sportsperformance analysis'

Who are these people ?

I'm sure wellsie will advise in due course.

Is this something the club/CK have initiated-or just a one-off for this match

When Dean Hill came on-was he deployed in defensive midfield ,or central defence or at left back ?

I think he was left back

Wellsie has put the teams as how they lined up in a 4-4-2 formation 1st half and what I think was a 4-5-1 formation second half.

excellent cross for our second goal. I think video highlights should be something the club should look into as it could benefit the playing squad so the CK can watch and analyse to see if/where his tactics are going wrong and for exiles like myself, I will be able to see the match highlights. Also be great to watch over classic games over and over again.

I haven't watched Margate for a while now sadly, but it was refreshing to see us battle for every ball and work more as a team. I know it's only pre-season and things change when the real thing gets going but it's a positive start
