Not a great fan of these flying winger types-but from what i read ,Bodkin is superior to most ;so seems a good acquisition..

 

His ultimate success will depend on who is at the end of his crosses-and their ability.

Is it somewhat ironic therefore ;that we no longer have Welford who would have been exactly the type of player to capitalise ?

Saturday's match - albeit only the first friendly - was particularly interesting for me because of the scratch side''s organisation, width and pace going forward.

 

I reckon we'll see the full width of the pitch being used a lot this season.

I always thought our pitch was narrower than most.

 

If there is a decent wide player to exploit it;i always felt that there was scope to safely widen the pitch by a yard each side,which may suit the team.

I imagine that the pitch size has to be declared prior to start of season; and then not changed mid season but there are still 4 weeks to go;and if it was me-i would be giving it srious consideration

I thought the pitch was narrowed because of the abuse a certain northern Spanish ( SORRY BASQUE) guy was giving the poor linoliums ( SORRY AGAIN. REFEREES ASSISTANTS)
